The Wise Man Is Saved by Christ

“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, nor many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption” – (I Cor.1:17-30).

“But ye are wise in Christ” – (I Cor.4:10).

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” – (2 Tim.3:15).

My wife ordered a cross-stitch kit from Sage Works in Ft. Smith, AK. on July 5, 2007. The beautiful picture says- “Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.” Sage means not only a plant that seasons sausage and sauce etc., but it also means a wise man. A true sage, a true wise man, is the one that is redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ. The true wise man is the one saved from his sins by Christ the Redeemer and has conquered his death and has eternal life. The wisdom of God is placed into the heart and mind of a person who is saved by faith by believing the gospel of Christ.

Wise men came from the east to Jerusalem following a star and looking for the royal star who was born king of the Jews. And finding Him they worshipped Him – (Mt.2). True wise men search for Christ and get saved by Him and worship Him. They get redeemed and set free from the bondage of their sins – “For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things… But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” – (I Pet.1:18,19). “For thou was slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” – (Rev.5:9).

In the Bible the governments of the world had wise men helping the chief executive rule the nations and so it is yet today. They are called by some other names like advisors or counselors or cabinet etc. We have worldly wise men advising our president also and God says it’s nothing but foolishness. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. There has never been a time in all history when men were so worldly wise as they are now. We live in a very sophisticated world because knowledge has greatly increased. Men are able to put other men on the moon, and bring them back. Men have performed many great feats in medicine and science. Yet, all the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God. Man has not even scratched the surface of the omniscience of the holy, almighty God who created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. If man is to have any true wisdom, he must get it from God by being saved by His beloved Son. The worldly wise man claims to be very great, but God’s Word tells us his thoughts are vain. When man’s wisdom leads him away from the holy scriptures and away from God, then he’s foolish in God’s eyes. Men get wise by getting redeemed by the foolishness of preaching – amen.

When man ate the forbidden fruit of worldly knowledge and wisdom in Eden, and rejected God’s word of truth, he sinned and went into darkness and became foolish. “The world by wisdom knew not God.” Through the wisdom of the world it is utterly impossible for a man to know God and discern divine truth. And so – “it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” The true sage does not get wise by feasting on worldly wisdom but by getting saved by Christ and feasting on God’s Word. By saving man through preaching the Word, God has displayed the folly of man’s wisdom and the infinite wisdom and power of His saving grace in His Son. God’s Word is wisdom.

As it is written – “Let no man deceive himself. It any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain” – (I Cor.3:18-20). Do not be deceived by the wisdom of this world. Do not be led astray from the truth and simplicity of the gospel by worldly wisdom. We are in great danger of deceiving ourselves when we place too high an opinion on human wisdom. When you start to read all these worldly books of human wisdom and reject the Bible, which is God’s wisdom, you reject God’s light and go into darkness and ignorance. Such is the state of our public school system today; the wisdom of God is thrown out. God doesn’t want smart children, he wants Godly children. A man who is truly wise will have that on his car bumper sticker. People have so many ‘smart’ things, like ‘smart’ cards that foolishly leads to the mark of the Beast.

But he who would be wise must become a fool that he may be saved and wise in Christ. He must distrust his own understanding, and not lean on it. To have a high opinion of our own wisdom is but to flatter ourselves and self-flattery is the next step to self–deceit. The way to true wisdom is to humble ourselves and be willing to be taught of God. He must become a worldly fool who would be truly wise. The man who resigns his own understanding, that he may follow the instruction of God, is the way to true and everlasting wisdom. “He chargeth his angels with folly” – (Job 4:18) and much more the wisest among the children of men. “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite” – (Ps.147:5). Again – “He taketh the wise in their own craftiness” – (Job.5:13). He catches them in their own nets, and entangles them in their own snares: he turns their most studied, plausible, and promising schemes against themselves, and ruins them by their own wisdom. We should fall on our knees in thankfulness for His revelations of truth written in His Word and be willing to be taught of God and not be led away by the pretence of worldly wisdom. He who would be wise indeed must learn of God, and not set up his own wisdom in competition with God’s. Don’t be a Mr. worldly wiseman – be saved.  A saved school custodian is much wiser than the unsaved principal.

Satan was once the wisest of God’s created begins, a Cherubim. But because he sinned by pride, his wisdom was corrupted and now he’s an evil genius. “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee… therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground..” – (Ezk.28:15-17). Rejecting the truth and light and wisdom of God’s Word makes you a child of Satan, the father of all whose wisdom is corrupted and darkened by sin. You make yourself the pupil of Satan, like Adam and Eve.

America needs to repent of sin and get saved and become strong in the Holy Spirit, for that is the true strength of a nation. We need more Daniels, prophet-preachers, who will boldly preach the truth to this nation’s leaders and followers. Godly men filled with the wisdom of God; true wise men who can discern the signs of the times. Daniel wrote in (Dan.12:10) about the soon coming great tribulation – “many shall be purified, and made white and tried: but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand: but the wise shall understand.” Daniel’s name means ‘God is Judge’ and very soon God’s judgment will fall upon U.S. because of our wickedness. When this happens, the wicked won’t understand, but the wise in Christ will.

The wicked, unsaved will not understand; they are blinded – (2 Cor.4:3,4). Every major judgment has been preceded by extreme ignorance concerning God and His Word. At the time of the flood, the people were eating, drinking, marrying, buying, selling“And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away” – (Mt.24:39). In Sodom and Gomorrah poor Lot was counted crazy by his sons-in-law, and he lost all he had except his two daughters. Yet Sodom ‘knew not’ because they were blinded by the sins of Sodomy. When Jesus was born, King Herod and those in high places ‘knew not.’ But the true wise men and the humble shepherds knew the truth of His birth, and believed it.

So it is today: the masses know not what is taking place all around us. The wise in Christ know and understand that Jesus is coming soon, just as He promised. Those who are saved and whose “eyes of understanding” have been opened by the Holy Spirit, see the end times coming; but the wicked who are blinded “by the God of this world” Satan, see nothing about which to be alarmed. They live as though they plan to stay here forever. Thy have no time for God, and no desire to be saved. Things will continually get worse as Armageddon approaches.

Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God, the wisest man who ever lived – “In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” – (Col.2:3). God the Father in His infinite wisdom, provided His beloved Son as the Savior of a world lost in darkness and sin. Take heed to God’s wisdom written in the Bible and be saved and born again. Believe the wisdom of God in His Word – “… the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” – (2 Tim.3:15). Conquer death through Jesus Christ and receive eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – (Jn.3:15). Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith and you will receive forgiveness of sins and become a new born again creature in Christ. Born again describes what happens to you when you’re truly saved. Be a true sage, be a true wise man, be wise unto salvation through Jesus Christ.

The wise man is saved by Christ

and reads and studies and meditates on the KJV.

P.S. – Always remember that the first sin of man was eating from the tree of worldly wisdom. It was deadly.
