The Winner

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain – (Philip.1:21).

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea, doubtless, and count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ” – (Philip.3:7,8).

“…Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O, grave , where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks to be God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ– (I Cor.15:54-57).

   And the winner is ______. If you’re saved from your sins and hell and been born again, you can write your name in the space. You stand in the winner’s circle with Christ – you have the victory over death and hell and the grave as He did. And the Holy Spirit in you makes you a soul winner so that others can become winners of eternal life in Christ. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” – (Prov.11:30). getting the victory over death and receiving eternal life makes you a true winner in this life. Be saved and die a winner.

   There is victory ahead for the born again child of God. Death is a terrible enemy. It has pockmarked the earth with graves. Thank God, there is victory in Christ. Death has been conquered. Jesus Christ has come out of the grave and has overcome death, hell and the grave. “The sting of death is sin” – But those of us who have had our sins forgiven and purged away will have the glorious triumph over death. Thank God for the victory we have through our resurrected Savior. The Lord Jesus Christ is the great winner of souls and we are winners through Him.

   What shall it profit a person to gain the whole world and lose his soul? What shall it profit him to become a billionaire or become the president of the U.S. or to become a winner in sports or to win an Oscar in Hollywood and die and go to hell? “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul.” The true winner is the one who is saved from his sins by the Lord Jesus and has conquered death, the first death of the body and the second death in the Lake of Fire, and has eternal life. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he hath not the Son of God hath not life” – (I Jn.5:11,12).

   In (Philip.3:7,8) Paul tells us that the advantages of birth, education, wealth and social position amount to exactly nothing when compared to salvation by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ. Before Paul got born again, he considered those things as gain, of great importance and advantage to him. But when he got saved by Christ, he lost them all. He realized that in reality he was a loser and now he was a winner in Christ. Before he won Christ, he relied on them, but now he has renounced all dependence upon these things and counts them well loss for Christ. Now Christ was all in all to him.

   When Saul of Tarsus became a new creature in Christ, he became a new man with a new name Paul the Apostle. He sacrificed everything that could have brought him gain, social position or wealth. He gave up his family and friends and a wife in order to serve his Lord and become a world-wide soul winner. There is no mention of Paul’s family as the family of God took their place. Paul lost his religious reputation and that happens to everyone that is born again – when you’re saved, you lose your religion. People need to lose their religion and become a winner by being saved by Christ as Paul did.

   Paul said that when he lost all these worldly things that he counted them as dung. The things that he used to consider most precious he now considers to be dung- that’s strong language. He flushed his religion and all the things he used to love down the drain. He was so changed by his new birth in Christ that what had been his prized possessions were now relegated to the dung heap. Christ changed him from a loser to a winner and he loved the Father. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” – (I Jn.2:15-17). Losing this world and winning Christ means you will live and abide forever – you have everlasting life – you’re winner and no longer a loser.

   Being born again makes you a winner. Your first fleshly birth and everything having to do with it, is a loser. It’s your Holy Spirit birth that makes you a winner. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” When you win Christ it costs you nothing – it is not of works. It’s the free gift of God – it’s by God’s grace. You don’t have to buy a lottery ticket to win Christ, salvation and eternal life is free. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” – (Eph.2:8). “But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many” – (Rom.5:15). Win Christ for free and become a true winner.

   Become a winner. Conquering your death and hell and receiving eternal life is free and it comes from only one man – God in human flesh – the Lord Jesus Christ. Even though only a small remnant, yet multiplied millions have become winners through Christ and will stand in the winner’s circle with Him. A true winner in life doesn’t have his head crowned with a laurel wreath at the Olympic Games, he has his head crowned by Christ at His second coming and becomes a king ruling on earth forever and ever. The true winner has an immortal body – he will be a king that reigns forever. Do not trade eternal life for the glory and power and wealth of this short, temporal life. Be a winner through Christ.

   The great tribulation saints who get saved during the time of the Beast’s reign will be the last winners of Christ. They refused to get the mark of the Beast and worship the Beast and were martyred for their faith. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not there lives unto the death” – (Rev.12:11). Like Paul they would say – “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” – (Philip.1:21). See the victorious martyrs of Jesus in heaven – And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God’”– (Rev.15:2). They got the victory over their deaths by getting saved during the great tribulation -the last winners of the church that have conquered death, hell and the grave. They sing the song of victory – the winner’s song.

Victory in Jesus

I heard an old, old story, how a savior came from glory,

How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me;

I heard about his groaning, of His precious blood atoning,

Then I repented of my sins and won the victory.

I heard about His healing, of His cleansing power revealing,

How He made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see;

And then I cried, “Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit,”

And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,

And I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea;

About the angels singing, and the old redemption story,

And some sweet day I’ll sing up there the song of victory.

O victory in Jesus my Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me with His

redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him. He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.

   Have you got the victory in Jesus? Are you a born again winner in Christ? You must die spiritually with Christ on the cross and be born again spiritually into newness of life. Repent of your sins and by faith believe on Christ in your heart and you will receive forgiveness of sin and become a new born again creature in Christ, born again by the incorruptible seed of God’s Word and a possessor of eternal life. “Being born again; not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – (I Pet.1:23). “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Sprit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” – (Jn.3:6,7). Born again describes what happens to you when you’re truly saved. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – (2 Cor.5:17). Be a winner through Christ. Get the victory in Jesus and conquer death, hell and the grave and receive eternal life. Share the winner’s circle with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Be born again and die a winner

Let your death be swallowed up in victory

Your faith in Christ is victory.
