The Hurricane: A Whirlwind of the Lord’s Fury

Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked. The fierce anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it” – (Jer.30:23,24).

“The Lord is slow to anger and great in power and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm” – (Nahum 1:3).

God has called me to be his Bible Watchman and give warning to wicked people to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and remission of sin. “Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul” – (Ezk.33:4,5).

I’m blowing the trumpet of warning on “The Hurricane: a Whirlwind of the Lord’s Fury.” Like the Hurricane Warning Service that warned the cities of the Gulf states in the U.S. and like the Mayors of these cities that warned their people, yet many took no heed to the warning and many perished. I’m giving a spiritual warning and I’m warning people that these whirlwind – hurricanes are sent forth by the Lord. The fury of the hurricane is the fury of the Lord. “Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked” – (Jer.23:19).

In His Word, God tells us plainly where the hurricane comes from and why it’s sent. It’s the wrath of God’s judgment against the wicked. It is not the wrath of mother nature or the wrath of Katrina and Rita. It is an act of God upon this increasingly wicked nation. The only remedy is repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus. Like Nineveh of old, we need to repent at the preaching of God’s prophets and the hand of God’s judgment will be stayed. Without repentance God will not at all acquit the wicked. The unrepentant sinner will not go free from God’s judgment.

Two president George Bushes gave us two Gulf wars. We have now conquered Iraq (The Babylon of old) killing many thousands of innocent people in an unjust war. Our oil president from Texas has his oil companies in control of Iraqi oil. Now God’s judgment with his whirlwind-hurricanes is falling upon our Gulf States and our oil wells and refineries there. Our Lord is a just God and we are reaping what we have sown. Yes, gulf oil indeed. U.S. Gulf oil is moving from the Gulf of Mexico to the Persian Gulf to insure our world dominance. God’s eye of His hurricane Rita hit Beaumont, Texas, the birthplace of the modern oil industry.

God is merciful and longsuffering and full of grace, but don’t confuse God’s love and mercy with no justice. God is slow to anger but God’s righteous anger upon the wicked will most certainly come. “But is longsuffering to us ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” – (2 Pet.3:9). “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation” – (2 Pet.5:13). God is longsuffering with sinners because he wants them to repent of sin and turn to His beloved Son on the cross and have their sins washed away in His precious blood – and be saved. The longsuffering of God is connected with the suffering of Christ on the cross for sins.

And the whirlwind and the stormy wind are specifically mentioned as one way that God’s righteous judgments falls upon the wicked – “Stormy wind fulfilling his word” – (Ps.148:8). God’s patience runs out and his holy justice demands judgment on sinners. God’s judgment by a flood of water fell upon this wicked world in the days of Noah and it fell upon Sodom and Gomorrah with fire because of their wicked homosexual ways – (2 Pet.2:5,6). “As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation” – (Prov.10:25).

The eye of the hurricane is in truth the eye of the Lord which is everywhere. “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings” – (Job 34:21). “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with when we have to do” – (Heb.4:13). “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth..” – (Amos 9:8). Putting blinders on our eyes and refusing to see our wickedness will never stop the whirlwinds of God. Sin is making U.S. blind but the Word of God sheds light for us. Like a hurricane lamp I’m preaching the light of God’s Word on hurricanes so that you may see – “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” – (Ps.119:105).

It is written in (Prov.1:23-27) – “Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded. But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when you fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind: when distress and anguish cometh upon you.” The people who would not take benefit of God’s mercy and grace in Christ when it was offered them will justly fall as victims to His justice. It’s very dangerous not to hearken to the calls of God – their calamity will come with great fear. And the calamity mentioned is the whirlwind – “Your destruction cometh as a whirlwind” – (1:27). When wicked people will continually spurn God’s grace and refuse to repent of their wicked ways – God will send a hurricane: the whirlwind of the Lord’s fury – upon them. And the hurricanes coming upon U.S. are getting stronger, and yet  there is no repentance.

It is written in (Job 38:1 and 40:6) “Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said.” God spoke to Job out of the whirlwind and finally Job repented, “Wherefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes” – (42:6) and this was what God wanted Job to do. And God is speaking to U.S. with the hurricanes of late to get U.S. to repent. If a good man like Job (but not sinless) needs to repent, what about wicked America?

It is written in (Mt.7:24-27) “Therefore whosoever hearth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And everyone that hearth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Storms are blowing - houses are falling. People hear the Word of God but they don’t do it. God is warning us with the hurricanes and pointing directly to the home. There were 63,000 houses destroyed in Florida alone with Hurricane Andrew. There as a direct hit on Home-stead, Florida and Home-stead AFB. We don’t know how many hoses were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, but it will be thousands. God is pointing to the home inside the house – the family. We are being chastised and judged for our wicked homes. As the family goes, so goes the nation. Winds are blowing – houses are falling. Spiritual storms are blowing - houses are falling. Broken homes, divorce, shattered families – the fall of the family. And in most cases the wicked sins of adultery and covetousness are the cause.

We are seeing now the beginning of the end of the world. We are entering into the great tribulation – the coming storm of God’s righteous wrath on wicked sinners. The storms of God’s fury will continue to get worse and worse and more frequent as we go into and through the great tribulation Day of the Lord. It is written in (Is.66:15) “For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.” That’s what God was showing us with the rapture of Elijah the prophet into heaven – “Behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder: and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven” – (2 Kings 2:11). The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back at the end of the great tribulation wrath of God. The whole wicked world will receive destruction by God’s calamites – a whirlwind of God’s fury if you will. Yet most people on earth will not repent of their sins – (Rev.9:20,21). The saints look for the whirlwind power of God to rapture us up to heaven before then.

O’ America, receive the love of God’s dear Son on the cross so you don’t have to perish. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – (Jn.3:16). Be born again by God’s Holy Spirit shown on the day of Pentecost as a rushing,  mighty wind which shows God’s power of love and grace.

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit” – (Jn.3:6-8). The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation. Be saved by the wind of the Holy Spirit when it blows by you or you will get the powerful whirlwind of God’s fury. Repent of your sins and believe on Jesus Christ by faith and you will be saved and not perish. Take heed to this watchman’s warning.

The hurricane: a whirlwind of the Lord’s fury.

The Lord is great in power.
