The Void that Only Christ Can Fill
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” – (Gen.1:1-2).
God touched my heart with the word ‘void’ and I immediately went to the KJ Bible which is God’s infallible, inerrant Word. In (Gen.1)) we have the work of the creation of this earth by God the Creator. Before God created this earth, it was nothing but empty space – a void – and no form at all, only darkness. It was nothing, it was shapeless with nothing to be seen – It was a void. And God tells us about these unsaved scientists and the knowledge of this world – “But foolish and unlearned questions avoid…” – (2 Tim.2:23). Avoid all the foolish and unlearned questions about evolution and how this earth began and believed God’s Word. The earth started as a void place in God’s universe until He created this earth and the stars in the heavens and all things and life on earth. You must believe the Bible by faith in your heart – “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” – (Heb.11:3).
The third person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, did the creating and moving – out of nothing but a void, God created matter and formed a beautiful world that He called earth. The Holy Spirit is life and He moved and created a living planet in the void of space – He created earth out of nothing. God spoke the word and it was done. The finite mind of man cannot fathom the infinite wisdom of Almighty God, but must believe it by faith or he will have no truth – God’s Word is truth.
God is said to make the world by His Spirit – “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth” – (Ps.33:6). First He created matter and then He gave life to it. And this makes it credible to us that God should raise the dead. That power which brought such a world as this out of emptiness and darkness, formless and void at the beginning of time, can, at the end of time, bring our corruptible bodies out of the grave and create them a new glorious body. The same Almighty Word that wrote our written Word of God is the very Word that spoke the earth and stars into being in the early morn of time.
God’s Word shall not return unto Him void – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall proper in the thing whereto I sent it” – (Is.55:8-11). Jesus gave us the parable of the sower – “The sower soweth the word” – (Mk.4:14). Preachers sow the incorruptible seed of God’s Word to all kinds of people. Some believe and get born again (I Pet.1:23) and some don’t – “And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirty fold, some sixty, and some an hundred” – (Mk.4:20). “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – (I Pet.1:23).
Yes, the Word of God does not return unto Him void. God took this empty void of space and by His spoken word brought this earth and heavens into existence and filled the void with beauty and life. But because of sin man died and is destroying God’s beautiful earth and man has lost his fellowship with God. The Lord Jesus Christ, the living, eternal Word of God, came to earth to fill the void and emptiness in the human heart that only He can fill. The Word of God that Jesus preached has not returned to Him void, it has accomplished what He desired – souls have been saved and born again – they have been re-created to produce Godly fruit. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – (2 Cor.5:17). When you’re born again in Christ, God’s Holy Spirit takes up residence in your heart and the void and emptiness is filled and you become whole. You have made peace with God through His beloved Son and fellowship is restored. You sins are forgiven by the blood of Christ on the cross.
Purpose, meaning, happiness, a reason for living – there are the things we desire and search for in life. Despite everything one does to find purpose and meaning in life we still feel empty and unfulfilled. That is because there is a spiritual void in people’s lives. We have an empty place in our hearts, a spiritual void deep within our souls – a God vacuum. Possessions and things and religion cannot fill this void. There is only one way to fill this void, to have a life of meaning on this earth and conquer death and have eternal life. Christ is what’s missing in our lives. Only Christ can fill that cross-shaped vacuum in the human heart. Christ fills the heart and soul of those whom He possesses, He unites Himself to their innermost being.
At the core of the human heart is aspiration of unlimited communion with God, and God created us this way. Only the Creator Himself can satisfy the deep longings of the human heart, man cannot fill the void himself with the things of this world. Above all we desire to be loved and to love. The Bible says – “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love: and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him” – (I Jn.4:16). “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him” – (I Jn.4:9). When we receive God’s son and the love of God as our Savior and find forgiveness of sins we experience God’s love in our soul. We now are born again children of our Heavenly Father who loves us. “For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God”– (Jn.16:27). Many children today have no fathers who love them or have any fathers at all. There is a longing within the soul that wants our father to love us and this is fulfilled by our heavenly Father when we’re born of God’s Spirit. Be saved and fill the void with the Holy Spirit.
We need not to concern ourselves with the void in outer space but the void in our inner space, in our soul. We need not concern ourselves with becoming space men and flying into outer space but to concern ourselves with the Spaceman who came from outer space to earth to fill the void in our hearts, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the visitor from outer space – “Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world” – (Jn.8:23). Jesus had nothing in common with the unsaved – there was no harmony or fellowship. The unsaved live, plan and think only in terms of this world. Jesus was a citizen of another world and they are worlds apart. Jesus was not of this world and neither are born again believers. We are commanded – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” – (I Jn.2:11-15). All the world cannot fill the God vacuum in man - only Christ can. Man’s heart is insatiable – incapable of being satisfied without Christ – “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied” – (Prov.27:20).
This word will pass away and God will create it again – “For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth…” – (Is.65:17) (2 Pet.3:13). This whole earth is destined to burn with fire and “the stars shall fall from heaven” – (Mt.24:29) (Rev.6:13). God will empty this earth and make it void. “Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down… the land shall be utterly emptied and utterly spoiled…” – (Is.24:1,3).
Watch our massive political void in the
Are you saved and born again in Christ? Have you filled the void in your heart with Christ? Have you been baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ? If not, repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith in truth and you will become a new creature in Christ. O do not spurn the love of God in His beloved Son on the cross. Receive Him as your Savior. Do not reject the Savior and His visit to earth the first time in grace and mercy. Because He’s going to visit this earth again soon a second time and He’s coming in wrath upon all the ungodly who rejected Him. “He that beliveth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that beliveth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” – (Jn.3:36).
Fill the void in your heart with Christ’s Holy Spirit – (Acts ). Christ not only can fill the void in outer space, He can fill the void in your inner space and create you a new creature.
