God’s Verdict: Guilty

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God” – (Rom.3:19).

There will be no trial before God to determine your guilt or innocence. God’s verdict upon the whole human race is already given, written in His law book – ‘guilty.’ Your judgment before God is not to determine your guilt or innocence, but only to determine your degree of punishment during your sentence of death. You are already condemned to the second death in the lake of fire – (Rev.20:15).

God’s indictment of the whole world is listed in the preceding verses in (Rom.3). “…for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher: with their tongues they have used deceit: the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes” – (Rom.3:9-18).

Man has been convicted by God. Every single person has sinned and violated God’s righteous laws. His mouth is stopped – he has no defense. God has proved to the world that nobody has been totally righteous his whole life, yea, far from it. He is a moral and spiritual leper before God and he should go around saying – “unclean, unclean”. We have been condemned to hell already by our righteous God. God’s punishment for breaking His laws was given to Adam and Eve and it is given to us also. Our punishment is death: both the first death and the second death in the lake of fire.

But let no man say that God is only a stern judge, having no mercy. His mercy, love and grace is seen by giving His dearly beloved Son on the cross as our only Savior. All man need do is cast himself down on the mercy of God and repent of his sins and believe on Christ in his heart by faith and he will be saved from hell and be pardoned of his sentence of eternal death and receive a new glorified body and eternal life. “…but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness” – (Neh.9:17).

If you reject God’s Son, you are rejecting God’s mercy and grace and your only way to be pardoned from the sentence of eternal death. If you truly believe the ‘sentences’ in God’s saving gospel concerning Jesus Christ, you will be pardoned of your ‘sentence of eternal death.’ “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations…” – (Lk.24:47). Believe God’s sentence of eternal life – “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son” – (I Jn.5:11).

You need to ask for God’s forgiveness by repenting of your sins and believing on Christ in your heart by faith and God will save and pardon you. He will release you from the penalty of breaking His laws and sinning. In effect, your are saying to the Father, “I beg your pardon.” God then accounts you righteous through the death of Christ. He pays the penalty of death for you. He is condemned to death on the cross in your stead. “..And they all condemned him to be guilty of death” – (Mk.14:64). “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus” – (Rom.8:1). No condemnation – PTL Jesus. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – (Rom.6:23).

God’s verdict upon us for breaking His laws is guilty and His judgment is death. But O the marvelous, amazing grace of God in giving His Son on the cross. God will save and pardon us if we repent of our sins and truly believe in Christ in our hearts during our life time. There is no hope for man after he dies. I believe the punishment in hell will be of different ‘degrees’ according to man’s works – “And, behold, I come quickly: and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” – (Rev.22:12).

O do not spurn the love and mercy of God in His dear Son on Calvary or the wrath of God abides upon you. God’s verdict of guilty has been passed upon us and His sentence is eternal death in hell. But in His great grace, He has given us a way to escape through His dear Son. “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…” – (Heb.2:3). Receive Christ as your escape-goat and atonement for your sins – do not delay. Your eternal destiny in heaven or in hell is at stake.
