Proud Empire Trees

And say, Thus sayeth the Lord God; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colors, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar.”

“There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots towards him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation. It was planted in good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be  a goodly vine.”

“Thus sayeth the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing: in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it” – (Ezk.17:2,7,8,22-24).

In this parable of the eagles on top the high trees God is showing us the high-minded, exalted, proud empire trees and the proud, exalted eagles on the top. God says this about proud Edom – “The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord” – (Obadiah. 3,4). And this parable is for today - especially for the United States.

This first great eagle in (vs.3) is none other than the Babylonian Empire and Nebuchadnezzar. The second great eagle is Egypt which was still a great power at that time. These two great eagles were but two great birds of prey. The prophet Daniel told us this also in (Dan.7:4) of Babylon – “The first was like a lion and had eagle’s wings…” A beast of prey, the lion, with the bird of prey wings, the eagle, devouring weaker nations and preying upon them. This is exactly the way God pictures empires and their armies  invading and conquering and devouring weaker nations.

The eagle’s great wings and long pinions speaks of great military power and vast dominion – an empire, while the many feathers speaks of the many nations subject to Babylon and the world emperor – Nebuchadnezzar. Different nationalities of different colored skins are represented in the empire by the different colors of the eagle. O’ how this parable speaks to U.S. today. America is now a proud, exalted, high-minded, highflying eagle which is our national bird. Our trillions of dollars with eagles on them have made U.S. a proud, covetous nation able to spend billions of eagle dollars on powerful armed forces that has made us the world superpower. We are the last empire on earth before the Lord Jesus returns as King of Kings to rule the world forever. We are now invading and conquering weaker nations more and more in unjust wars (We call it ‘Preemption’). We are like the rogue lion with eagle wings prophesied by Daniel. We are the new Babylon of (Rev.17 and 18). We are following the eagle of Imperial Rome.

It should be plain to all of God’s saints today that when we conquered Iraq, the Babylon of old, that we are the last empire prophesied in (Dan.2). The battle between the two Babylons is over and Babylon U.S.A. now controls Babylon of old. Any government in Iraq will be a puppet government of U.S. We already have our empire and soon comes our emperor. Our president sits as a great eagle on top the tallest trees in the world – The California Redwoods. This 400 mile stretch on the coast of California is called “The Redwood Empire” and one of the largest trees is “The Empire Tree.” Nebuchadnezzar, emperor of old Babylon was rich and powerful and sat as an eagle on top of the cedar 100 ft. high, but our president sits as an eagle on top of the redwoods 385 ft. high. No nation has ever been as proud and powerful and rich as U.S. We have set our nest among the stars when we handed on the moon in ‘the Eagle’ landing craft and said to the world – “The eagle has landed” – exalted as the eagle. The U.S. is the proudest, highest, empire tree of all – the redwood empire of the Beast.

In (Ezk.31) the watchman prophesies again of trees and empires. He warns Pharaoh, King of Egypt, that he’s going to go the same way as the Assyrian Empire did. God compares them to a lofty cedar. God was saying in effect to Egypt – “If you are inclined to pride yourself on your glory as a mighty empire, just consider what happened to Assyria described under the figure of a cedar tree.” God was warning Egypt and every other nation that would become a devouring empire beast. “Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters. Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness. Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches: To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit” – (Ezk.31:7,10,11,13,14). God says to every proud empire tree nation that exalts themselves like a high tree, that He will humble them down to hell. “And whosever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” Like proud Nebuchadnezzar, emperor of Babylon in (Dan.4) who was likened to a great tree and God cut him down to a stump – the Nebuchadnezzar tree – Amen. And America is going the same empire way, and with no repentance and turning to Christ we shall be cut down also.

In (Dan.4) Emperor Nebuchadnezzar had a vision of a great tree and the prophet Daniel interpreted it – “The tree that thou sawest which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth. If is thou, O king, that art grown. and become strong: for thy greatness is grown and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. And whereas the king saw a watcher, and an holy one coming down from heaven and saying, Hew the tree down and destroy it…” – (Vs.20,22,23). God humbled this proud emperor tree, he cut him down by giving him a heart of a beast and dwelt with the beasts and looked like an eagle – “His hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws” – (Vs.33). It sure points to the eagle on the presidential shield. Our president is becoming a giant redwood, like Nebuchadnezzar’s giant emperor tree. He forgets that God cut down the Nebuchadnezzar tree to a stump and the stump was a human beast – who is a type of the antichrist-beast soon to come. The U.S. is becoming the redwood empire of the beast.

God says in (Ezk.17:22-24) “Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it: I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it.” In grace God would raise up a branch in David’s house which would be fruitful. God would place him on the top of the cedar on mount Zion in Jerusalem where he shall reign forever as emperor over earth. The ‘tender one’ is God’s beloved Son, the Lord Jesus, the BRANCH. “For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground” – (Is.53:2). God’s grace and tender mercies sent His beloved Son to die on the tree-cross for the sins of the world. He who is the BRANCH of David carried His tree-cross, a branch, to Calvary to be our Savior. “Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch and a king shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth” – (Jer.23:5). He is the Lord Jesus Christ – our Righteousness. The tree-cross is the true ‘redwood’ where Christ shed His precious red blood for our sins.

Yes the ‘tender branch’ is the Lord Jesus sent by a tender, loving God to save us from our sins – “That the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy” – (Jam.5:11). Do you not see the humble Savior dying on the tree for you? Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness…” – (I Pet.2:24). He’s coming back in power and great glory as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and be the everlasting Emperor of planet earth. He will rule from Mt. Zion in Jerusalem. He will be exalted from the lowliest tree of all – the cross – to the highest tree of all – Emperor over the whole earth. And it will be an empire of peace not war. Yes God will exalt the low tree and make the dry tree-cross flourish and He’s coming soon.

Job also prophesies of the Lord Jesus, the tender branch of a tree – “For there is a hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground. Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. But man dieth , and wasteth  away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? If a man die, shall he live again?... – (Job 14:7-10,14). Not only did the Lord Jesus humble Himself on the lowly tree on Calvary for our sins, He resurrected from death. God has made the dry, dead tree to flourish and live again. And because He resurrected we shall also and we have this certain hope within us. Paul said – “Of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question” – (Acts 23:6). Jesus Christ is the tree of life to whosoever will be saved.

God gave this tree sermon to Ezekiel, God’s watchman, to blow the trumpet of warning about proud empire trees. God called him the son of man which is the title of the greater Son of Man, the Lord Jesus who fulfills it all. Jesus Christ is the lowly humble tree of salvation that will be exalted to Emperor of earth. Are you saved and born again in Christ? Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart for forgiveness and remission of sins. If you do this in truth you will be saved and have eternal life. Don’t reject this precious free gift of grace or the wrath of God abideth upon you. “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (I Cor.15:3,4). “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life” – (I Jn.2:25).

Beware of proud empire trees like the Nebuchadnezzar tree.

The Lord will bring down the highest tree ever – the proud U.S. Redwood.

Humble yourself at the lowly tree cross – the Jesus Christ tree.

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan – (Is.2:11-13). The day is coming soon when all of man’s pride will be brought low, and the Lord Jesus Christ will be exalted over earth – Amen.
