The Two White Horses of Revelation
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals and I heard as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering and to conquer.” (Rev.6:12)
“And I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse: and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. It’s eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns: and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called the word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth giveth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Rev.19:11-16).
In these verses of Revelation, you see the two white horses mounted by two different riders. The first one in (chap. 6) is the antichrist and the one in ((Chap.19) is Christ. It’s easy to remember – chap.6 for 666- the numbers of antichrist.
Antichrist is an imitation of Christ- a counterfeit – (that’s why he rides a white horse as Christ does). And God brings strong delusion upon the world to believe in this lie because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved- (2 Thes.2:10-11). This revealing of antichrist begins the great tribulation and the four horsemen of the apocalypse ride the earth.
In (Matt.24) Jesus tells us the same thing about the great tribulation. First comes the false Christ (vs.5) and then comes the red horse of war (vs.6) and then the blackhorse of famine and the pale horses of pestilence- (vs.7).
Antichrist is Satan’s masterpiece and the counterfeit of all that Christ is or claims to be. He’s the most deceitful when he gets closest to the truth. That’s why he counterfeits Christ; to be better able to deceive. He’s shown in (Rev.6) in the role of emperor and conqueror on a white horse. It’s customary throughout history for a conquering king or general to ride in triumph on a white horse. I wouldn’t be surprised if antichrist is actually filmed riding a white war horse as he leads his army into victory.
The world is longing for some world ruler who will come and bring peace and order out of chaos. The conditions are ripe for an emperor who will promise peace and security. But then he goes forth conquering and to conquer. He will have many victories but at the end he proves to be a loser as he loses his final battle at Armageddon to the Lord Jesus Christ.
The world will not call him antichrist but Christ. They will call him the world’s greatest leader. He will be the false Christ to the world that rejected Christ and the false Messiah to the Jews for the same reason. He will be worshipped as God and this will be the last emperor worship that the world will ever have. He will be the last world emperor and he will ride a white horse as emperors have been doing for millenniums.
It is written in (Acts ) “But ye denied the holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you.” As the Jews chose Barabas over Christ at his first coming, so the whole world will choose the murdering antichrist over Christ at his second coming. Antichrist is the devil’s counterfeit white knight riding on a white horse to save the world. He’s the so-called savior to a world of Christ-rejecters. He will lead the world on his white horse straight to a fiery Armageddon.
(Rev.19) shows us the battle between two white horse riders – Satan’s masterpiece and the Lord Jesus Christ. Whose side will you be on?
Have you heard of the imperial horse – the Lipizzaner white horse? This snowy white stallion is the
symbol of the world’s imperial horse. He’s the symbol of the white horse that
carries antichrist as he is shown in (Rev.6). He will be last world emperor
before the true emperor comes back – the Lord Jesus. These Lipizzaner
horses are from
They originated at a stud farm in the town
These emperors looked to Roman history and
to Caesar’s famous white horse and so they started to raise these white horses
for the emperor and his generals. They were the exclusive property of the
emperor and were trained for battle. These white horses reigned as
Now listen to this. This white emperor horse is really a black horse at heart. These Lipizzaner stallions are born usually dark or black and change slowly through a period of six to ten years to their final pure white color. (See Rev.19:7-9) see our marriage supper to the Lamb of God – the Lord Jesus. As a mighty army wearing the same white garments – ()). “Then the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” White horses and white clothes.
(Vs.8) tells us that white is the color of righteousness. See (vs.11) again and our lord and savior and emperor riding a white horse – see righteousness. This is the true holy empire. Christ brings his holy empire back with him to rule the earth as kings and priests beneath him - the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Rev.1:5-7).
Our white garment signifies that we have washed our robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. “Unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” “And hath made us Kings and Priests.” We have our atonement (our covering) to hide our shame and nakedness of our sins like God clothed naked Adam and Eve with a lambskin after they sinned. (Rev.3:4-5) and (Rev.6:11) and (Rev.7:9 and 14) show the saints dressed in white robes – made white and clean by the Lord Jesus our righteousness.
The righteous are as bold as a lion and that is what is shown here at Armageddon in (Rev.19) as this mighty Christian army conquers the beast and his armies. “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” (Rom.8:37). And we conquer with the sharp two-edged sword of the word of God proceeding out of Christ’s mouth.
Maybe the Lord Jesus will name his white horse ‘Thunder’ from the scriptures. It is written in (Job 39:19-25) about the war horse – “Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? He saith among the trumpets, ha, ha: and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains and the shouting – (vs.19 and 25). Again in (job 37:5) “God thundereth marvelously with his voice.” And it is the voice of the Lord that conquers the beast at Armageddon as he rides his great white war horse to victory.“The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces: out of heaven shall he Thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth: and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed” – (I Sam.2:10). O yes, the lord’s horse will become the most famous horse in the universe – the flying white horse named Thunder?
Yes, the two white horses of Revelation that carry Christ and antichrist. Are you a saint of God washed in the precious blood of Christ? We are all born black with sin in our hearts. When Jesus saves us, we are changed from black to white as snow – just like the Lipizzaner white horses. You need a white heart in order to get the white robe of righteousness. God and everyone in heaven is clothed in white. Even his horses are white because holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. Is your white robe and white horse waiting for you?
Be saved today. Repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus in your heart and become a born again saint of God. Otherwise you will stand before God at his great white throne judgment and be sentenced into the lake of fire. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” (Rev.20:11-15). Amen and Amen.
