Christ’s Salvation Army
“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” – (2 Tim.2:3,4).
Every true believer who is truly saved and been baptized by the Holy Spirit and born again, has enlisted in Christ’s salvation army. We become a part of His army the moment we are saved. The army of Christ is an ‘all volunteer’ army. We are not drafted against our will. The Lord wants good soldiers – strong in the Spirit. There will be no discharge from His army until New Jerusalem comes down to earth.
There is a battle to be fought. One of the things that many Christians aren’t aware of is that the child of God is in a battle, and it’s a spiritual battle. The pastors and teachers and church leaders are the officers in the army and the Lord Jesus, the King of Kings is our commander-in-chief. We are men of war and the Lord wants His troops strong in the Spirit and mighty men of faith.
Our enemy is Satan and all the unsaved people of the world and our own lusts. The front line is divided between the born again children of God and the born of the flesh children of the Devil. “But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now” – (Gal.4:24) and (I Jn.3:10). Being born again takes you from the army of Satan and places you in the Lord’s army. Each one of us before we are saved are the enemy of God because of our sins. When we’re saved, we are reconciled to God and have peace with God – “And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby” – (Eph.2:16).
We have become very soft Christians in the
I believe the great war in the heavens between Michael and his good angels against Satan and his evil angels has already taken place (Rev.12) and soon comes the war-making Beast – “Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” – (Rev.13:4). Not only does he make war conquering nations, he “makes war with the saints” – (Rev.13:7). And with the two witnesses – (Rev.11:7). Great persecution and warfare is coming against the saints of God soon maybe even before the rapture. God’s army needs to become – “Strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil” – (Eph.6:10,11). The church is a band of brothers in spiritual warfare.
The key to this scripture on warfare in (Eph.6) is the word ‘stand.’ The devil will attack, our command is “having done all to stand” – (). Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross. We must have all our combat equipment on, if we are to be strong enough not to turn cowardly or desert our post. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds)” – (2 Cor.10:3,4). Satan is much stronger than we are, so we must put on the whole armour of God – He is the Almighty.
The pieces of combat equipment are listed. First – “the girdle of truth.” The Spirit of
truth is in you, but you must study the KJ Bible to learn more and more truth
from the great teacher. The Word of God is the truth and we must learn it and
stand upon it, even if we stand alone. Second – we must have “the breastplate of righteousness.” We
are saved by the righteousness of Christ and then we are to live righteous
lives – “Ye become the servants of righteousness” –
(Rom.6:8). In the O.T. the army of
Remember that there are casualties in warfare and we must be willing to die for our Lord if necessary. Martyrdom is the supreme sacrifice and many of the tribulation saints will be beheaded for the witness of Jesus when they refuse the mark of the Beast – (Rev.20:4). Jesus said – “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” – (Mt.10:28).
Third – you must have gospel shoes on your feet. You must always be a soul winner and preach the gospel wherever you go. “As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace..” – (Rom.10:15). Consider your shoes and use your tongue and open their blind eyes and heel their soles. Our Commander-in-Chief has given us these marching orders – “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” – (Mk.16:15). We must increase the size of our army and find replacements for those who die and go to heaven.
Fourth – Above all, we must take the shield of faith to ward off the fiery darts that Satan shoots at us. We are saved by faith and we live and stand by faith, even unto death. We keep our eyes in the Word of faith knowing we’re heirs of God and shall inherit eternal life. “Fight the good fight of faith” – (I Tim.6:12).
Fifth – A helmet of salvation that protects our head and mind. And it ‘reminds’ us that we are not to be proud and puffed up like a ‘plumed’ helmet. We are not to be double minded or carnal minded which is death, but to be spiritual minded which is life – (Rom.8:6). We are to be careful what we read and listen to lest our minds be corrupted.
Sixth – We must have a sharp two-edged sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, in our hands. It’s an offensive weapon that we use against Satan’s temptations as Christ did in the wilderness. Out of our mouths comes the sharp sword of God’s Word cutting deeply, and we must use it wisely; sometimes like a surgeon’s scalpel but other times like a heavy broadsword like Goliath’s. It is written – it is written – it is written, is ever our armour.
Seventh – We must pray always in the Spirit. We recognize our enemy and we lay hold on God for spiritual help. Prayer is the buckle that holds all the armour together. We must pray in the Spirit, inwardly, and not to be heard of men and become proud prayers outwardly. We must pray to be heard of God and not men.
Eighth – We must be watchmen, not only for ourselves, but to warn the saints. You must stand in the watchtower watching for the enemy and not be caught sleeping on guard duty. The devil comes in many disguises and uniforms deceiving God’s army. God’s soldiers must be constantly watching for the enemy – it’s deadly if you don’t watch. Jesus especially warned us about watching in these end times – (Mt.24:42).
We are also in warfare against our fleshly lusts – “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul” – (I Pet.2:11). Our godly Christian
pilgrim forefathers took their name from this verse and from (Heb.11:13). We’ve
fallen down a long, long ways. In the
Are you a soldier in Christ’s holy salvation army? Have you been saved from your sins and been born again? You are born again into Christ’s army and no churchianity will get you in. God’s army is a godly army that fights a war with spiritual weapons against the Devil and ungodliness.
Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith and you will be baptized by the Holy Spirit into the true body of Christ – “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…” – (I Cor.12:13). No water baptism can ever wash away your sins which are inward, only the baptism of the Holy Ghost can. You can conquer your greatest enemy which is death – (I Cor.15:26). You can have eternal life in Christ – “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life’ – (I Jn.5:11,12).
God loved you so much that in His grace and mercy He sent down to earth His beloved Son to die on the cross as our Savior. Do not spurn God’s great love to you or His wrath will fall upon you. Make sure your name is in the Lamb’s book of life – “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” – (Rev.20:15).
