Christ: The Prince of Life

“The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, The God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One, and the just, and delivered a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of Life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses”- (Acts 3:13-15)

Peter told the Jews that Pilate was willing to let Christ go, but they insisted that He be crucified. During the Passover, the festival of freedom from bondage, Pilate was to release one man from prison. But they chose the murderer Barabbas and crucified Christ. They gave life to the murderer and murdered the Life-giver. But the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and offers eternal life to whosoever receives Him and gets born again.

“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” - (Jn.11:25). Again .- “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh into the Father, but by me”-  (Jn.14:6). Again - “As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” - (Jn.5:26). That’s what Easter is all about – Christ - The Prince of Life.

Jesus Christ came down to this earth to solve man’s greatest problem: sin and the punishment of sin which is death. Christ is the Prince of Life: there is eternal life in no other. “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord-” (Rom. 6:23). He died on the cross for our sins and gives eternal life to as many that believe in His Word. Adam and Eve sinned and were punished with death because they believed Satan’s word instead of God’s Word and now we can have eternal life and conquer death by believing God’s Word about Christ.

Christ is our hope for life beyond the grave- “He is not here: for he is risen”-(Mk 28:6), said the angel at His empty tomb.  Through out the N.T. Jesus Christ as man’s life-giver is constantly mentioned. He, and He alone, is the one who imparts eternal life.  He is our only hope for true life. And because He is the Truth, we can place our faith in His sure word of promise - “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal

life” -> (I Jn.2:25). Do you have that life?

It is written - “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” - (Mk 7:14). Christ is the strait gate and the narrow way to eternal life, only a few find it. Are you one of the few, one of the remnant? There is no other way, no other religion. God has not sent us many Saviors, many ways, and many religions. You reject Him at your own peril.

Our choice is eternal life in heaven through Christ or eternal death in Hell. “And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched.”- (Mk 9:45). Again And  whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”- (Rev. 20:15).  Is your name written in God’s Book of Life? Only by repentance of sin and believing in Christ in your heart by faith can your name be written there. Only the Lord Jesus is the Prince of Life.

It is written -“In him was life; and the life was the light of men”- (Jn.1:4). He is the light in the darkness and shadow of death- “I am the light of the world: he that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”- (Jn.3:36).

Christ is the water of life - “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life-” (Jn.4:14). He is the bread of Life- “I am the living bread which came down from heaven (like manna); if any man eat this bread, he shall live forever…” (Jn.6:51).

Christ is the good shepherd that gave His life for His sheep that they may have eternal life - “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish…”- (Jn.10:28). Christ offers eternal life, not only to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles - “…then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life-” (Acts 11:18). O, the marvelous grace of God that reigns and rules over death - “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord-” (Rom 5:21).

O the Power of the Prince of Life. “… I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again…”- (Jn.10:18). O Christ has conquered our great enemy death- “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through out Lord Jesus Christ.”- ( I Cor. 15:54,55,57). Only Christ has the power of the keys of life and death. “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forever more. Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death” – (Rev.1:18).

The Power of the Prince of Life’s word can give eternal life. No man has ever had such power – “Holding forth the word of life…”- (Phil.2:15). “For the Word of God is quick and powerful…”- (Heb 4:12).  “And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes.” (Jn.11:43,44). Christ’s words in the Bible are the Word of Life, and they will abide and live forever - “… by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever”- (I Pet.1:23). We are born again by the eternal Word of God. God’s Word is a spiritual seed that is germinated in us by repentance and belief in Christ- (I Pet.1:23 and Jam.1:18). God’s Word created all life on earth (Gen.1) He is the living God.

Absolutely nobody else can give you immortality but Christ alone - “…who is the blessed and only Potentate, The King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Who only hath immortality…” - (I Tim 6:15,16), Who only, only, only hath immortality.  He is potent and powerful and the only King of Kings and Potentate with the power over death. Now that’s power- that’s the power of the Almighty - Amen. “… our savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel-” (2 Tim 1:10).

Christ hath abolished death. For the saints, the grave has been robbed of its power and terror. Death has become the door to life; we are suddenly “absent from the body” and “present with the Lord”- (2 Cor.5:8).) We depart “to be with Christ, which is far better” -“and to die is gain”- (Phil. 1:21). Yees, in Christ, death has been abolished. He affected a permanent change in the way we view death. Darkness of death has been replaced by the light of His resurrection and life. He has shed light on death by conquering it and preaching eternal life in His name. All that is terrible about death must be viewed in the light of His triumph over the grave and through Him we can cheat the grave also. Even in our hour of death, we can be aglow with the shining realities of eternal life. “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up”- (Mk 4:16). In Christ is our hope of eternal life.

Eternal life and immortality is only through Christ the Son of God. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life”- (I Jn.5:11,12). Christ is the Prince of Life and O how we praise and thank Him for dying on the tree- cross for our sins and resurrecting three days later and saving us so that we can resurrect also. Praise the Lord Jesus- Praise the Prince of Life. Without him we would have no hope beyond the grave.

Are you saved from your sins and hell and been born again and baptized by the Holy Spirit? If not, repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith and you will become a new born creature in Christ. Born again describes what happens to you when you truly believe. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”- (2 Cor.5:17).

Water baptism and joining a church made with hands can never save you. Only the Lord Jesus can baptize you with the Holy Spirit into the true church made without hands. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…” - (I Cor.12:13). O do not spurn the love and grace of God’s dear Son on the cross or the wrath of God still abides upon you. “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him”- (I Jn.4:9). God has set before you eternal death and eternal life. Choose life and become an heir of God and inherit all things.

Choose the Prince of Life.
