Do You Want a New Body?

“Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself” – (Philip.3:21).

   “There are also celestial bodies and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: For one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in in corruption: It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body: it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which was spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthly: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earth, such are they also that are earthly: and as the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say brethren, that flesh and the blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin: and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” – (I Cor.15:40-57).

   Many people have something wrong with their body. Some ailment – something physically or mentally wrong. Do you have aches and pains today? Are you getting old and heading for death and the grave? I’m here to tell you that there is hope for you. The Lord Jesus Christ has a new body for you.

   This earthly body is not the real you. The real you lives within – the spiritual man: the soul. We say my head, my arm, my leg, my heart etc. your body belongs to the real you that will live forever in heaven or hell. When your body dies, the soul departs and goes to heaven or hell depending on if you’re saved or not – “And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (For she died)..” (Gen.35:18). Again – “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” – (2 Cor.5:8).

   Our fleshly body is but an earthly house, a temporary house, a house of flesh, a tent or a tabernacle until we get our permanent house. “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” – (2 Cor.5:1). Peter said when he was going to die – “Knowing that shortly I must off this my tabernacle…” – (2 Pet.1:14). At death, we move out of our temporary house, we have a change of residence.

Out of this terrestrial body into a celestial body

Out of this corruptible body into an incorruptible body

Out of this mortal body into an immortal body

Out of this fleshly body into a spiritual body

Out of this earthly body into a heavenly body –

   Into a transfigured, glorified, redemption body. Out of this body of death into a body of everlasting life. God begins with a corruptible piece of dirt and when He’s done He will give us a glorious, incorruptible, eternal body – if you’re born again. “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body.” Yes, these weak and dead bodies will be changed and delivered from the curse of sin. We shall have a body of glory like Jesus; because we also are begotten of the Father. “Waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body” – (Rom.8:23).

   We have a redeemed spirit that’s alive unto God but we have to carry it around in this dying corpse. At death or the rapture trumpet, we’ll get a new house to live in. God won’t let our soul be naked. We are told not to drive our stakes in this world too deep, because we’re moving on soon – this life is only temporary. I’m waiting for the day of my death when God takes me home out of this clay body and gives me what I’m groaning for – (Rom.8:23). I long to go home – I long for my new house – “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” – (2 Cor..5:8) “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” – (Philip.1:21). You can write on my tombstone ‘Michael doesn’t live here any more – his house is empty.’  O born again saint of God, don’t pamper this old corpse, all is vanity. Don’t dye your hair and get wigs and plastic surgery, because you’re getting a new body. And only the Lord Jesus can give it to you, not scientists eating from the tree of knowledge and the tree of life locked to them.

   I’ll always remember this epitaph on a tombstone that fits this sermon perfectly.

Solomon Peas

Beneath this sod and beneath these trees

Lies the body of Solomon Peas.

Peas is not here, only his pod

Peas has shelled out and gone home to God.

   Our pod changes to a pad – a launching pad to heaven – amen.

   Deep within our fleshly seed – I believe God has planted a desire for man to go home to their heavenly Father, and that’s why we have astronauts and space ships flying into outer space. We’re trying to return to the Father, but we’re doing it our way, the wrong way – “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God – (I Cor.15:50). We need to go to heaven God’s way, the way of the cross leads home. We need to have forgiveness of sins by Christ on the cross and a new spiritual birth to get back to the Father’s house.

The Way of the Cross Leads Home

I must needs go home by the way of the cross, there’s no other way but this;

I shall never get sight of the gates of light, if the way of the cross I miss.

I must needs go on the blood-sprinkled way, the path that the Savior trod,

If I ever climb to the heights sublime, where the soul is at home with God.

Then I bid farewell to the way of the world, To walk in it nevermore;

For my Lord says ‘Come’ and I seek my home, where He waits at the open door.

The way of the cross leads home… the way of the cross leads home,

It is sweet to know as  I onward go, the way of the cross leads home.

   Not only will our Father give us a new body, but He will give us a new name for the new body also – three names. Our last name for all of us who are children of God will be the Father’s name written in our foreheads – “And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads” – (Rev.22:4). Our middle name for all of us who are born again children of God will be Jesus’ new name “… and I will write upon him my new name” – (Rev.3:12). When the Lord Jesus comes back He will have a new name and we shall bear it on our foreheads for eternity – (Rev.19:12). But each of us shall have our own particular names that fit us perfectly, our first name. “… and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it” – (Rev.2:17). Our Father will give us a new name for our new bodies that He gives us and it will fit our personality perfectly. Jesus gave His disciples new names, and this was a type and an example for all of us blood-bought children of God.

   We’ll all get new clothes for the new body – white linen robes. There will be no other colors. “To her was granted that she should be arranged in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints” – (Rev.19:8). All of us who have washed our robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb shall wear white clothes for eternity as a testimony of thanksgiving to Christ for saving us – (Rev.7:14). There will be no fakers dressed in black like Johnny Cash. God creates a new heavens and a new earth and new bodies with new names – “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new…” – (Rev.21:5).

   God offers you 2/3 of your new body right now – a purified soul and a new Holy Spirit in you (You’ll have to wait till you die or be translated at the rapture to receive the final 1/3 of your new body). Do you want this new eternal body that shall never grow old and shall never die? If you do, then you must be born again. Being born again is a down payment on your new eternal body and it comes by faith in Jesus Christ. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh: and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again” – (Jn.3:6,7).

   You need to be born again of the incorruptible seed in order to receive an incorruptible body – “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – (I Pet.1:23). Believing on God’s Word will germinate the seed of God’s Word in you that will produce a new glorified body that will live forever. Repent of your sins and by faith believe on Christ in your heart and you will receive forgiveness of sins and become a new creature in Christ and await your new heavenly body.

   Do not spurn the grace and mercy and love of God in His beloved Son on the cross or the wrath of God abides upon you. Do not turn down eternal life. “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath  life; and he that not the Son of God hath not life” – (I Jn.5:11,12). The true born again body of Christ will have a body like Christ – glorified and eternal, shining like the sun – (Mt.13:43). A star for God.

Do you want a new body?

Then obey God’s Word and get saved.
