Saints Never Walk Alone
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you” – (Jn.14:16-18).
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” – (Heb.13:5).
The feeling of being alone in life, of being abandoned, is a painful
experience. Feelings of abandonment can quickly cascade into waves of fear. The
experience of being alone and apart often leaves one feeling afraid and
anxious. But when a person is born again of the Holy Spirit, God dwells within
him and he becomes the
Jesus promises us that when we’re truly saved, that we would receive the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, and He would abide with us forever, never leaving us or forsaking us. We hear of comfort food, well the Holy Spirit teaches us the Word of God, which is true comfort food. “It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” – (Lk.4:4). Physical food cannot comfort your soul, the true comfort food and soul food is the Holy Spirit in you. Be born again and receive the Comforter and you’ll never be alone again.
Comfort means (to give strength and hope to – assistance and support – help – consolation in time of trouble – solace). A comforter is one that helps us in our time of need. This Holy Spirit Comforter separates us totally from the world, because the world cannot receive Him.
The Lord’s reference to “another Comforter” also gives proof that the Holy Spirit is a person not an ‘influence.’ Jesus was the church’s comforter while He was on the earth, and after His departure He promised to send “another Comforter.” The Holy Ghost is a person just a surely as God the Father and God the Son are persons. He is a divine person, the third person of the Trinity.
The Prophet Elijah, threatened with death by Queen Jezebel, become afraid and ran for his life to Mt. Sinai because he was alone – “Lord, they have killed thy prophets and digged down thy altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life” – (Rom.11:4). And the Lord comforted him with Elisha, two by two, and Elijah never walked alone again. Our loneliness is felt most at our death and the death of a loved one and that is when we need the Comforter the most. And when a husband or wife dies after having become one flesh for many years, they have lost a part of themselves and many times the surviving spouse also dies soon afterward. “… as one that comforteth the mourners” – (Job.29:25).
“But ye know him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” Here is pointed out the contrast between the people of God and the unsaved. True born again believers are ‘possessors’ of the Holy Spirit. He shall be “in” you. He takes up His abode in the soul of saved people. Every born again, blood-washed believer is a possessor of the Holy Spirit forever. God no longer dwells in temples of wood and stone, but in saved, sanctified bodies of flesh and bone – (I Cor. 3:16).
“I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.” Jesus sometimes called His disciples “little children” and now He is assuring them that they would not be orphaned and abandoned. God does not abandon His born again children who cry out in the Spirit – Abba-Father. He sends the Spirit into us to comfort us so that we are not left as sheep without a shepherd, helpless, wandering among the wolves in Satan’s wicked world without a helper. After the Father births us into His family, He does not abandon us alone, but provides the Comforter that we absolutely need. O how many children today are abandoned by their fathers and become easy prey for Satan.
To be abandoned means to be left helpless without protection and
guidance, strength and teaching of a father. We have a fatherless
Satan moves in fast to ensnare abandoned children into the occult, where Satan can possess them and use their young bodies to serve him for a lifetime. He becomes the father of fatherless children. Harry Potter is Satan’s wizard. This eleven year old ‘orphan’ boy is a mythical child of the devil to deceive and capture the hearts and minds of millions of children and adults worldwide. He is cleverly being used by Satan to captivate the souls of not only our youth, but adults as well, and to lead them down the path into the forbidden occult. This is what happens to fatherless children who are left ‘alone’ and abandoned.
I think about Barack Obama who was abandoned by his father when he was two years old. I think about his mother who also abandoned him for many years and sent him to her parents to raise. She also married an Indonesian Muslim man and Barack lived with them for awhile and was given his name and sent to her parents again – not orphaned but abandoned by divorce. He had two father’s names, and yet had no father.
On top of that, his father was a black man from
The Holy Spirit is a truthful Comforter. He never lies to us, but is ever the Spirit of truth. He will always use God’s Word of truth to guide and teach you. He will glorify and testify of the Lord Jesus Christ – the only true God.
I’ve seen the lightning flashing, and heard the thunder roll,
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, trying to conquer my soul;
I’ve heard the voice of Jesus, telling me still to fight on,
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone.
(Eph.5) tells us that a man and his wife are one flesh and typify Christ and His church. “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones” – (Eph.5:30). Christ becomes one flesh with His bride the church – Christ in us through the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit enters us we are part of the body of Christ – two have become one flesh – “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” – (Gen.2:18). When God created woman from Adam’s rib, Adam never walked alone again, typifying Christ and His church. Yes, it’s not good for man to be alone, so when we’re saved God gives us the Holy Spirit Comforter to indwell us and help us and we never walk alone forever.
Adam felt his loneliness in the garden, there was a sense of incompleteness. He had companionship with all the creatures but something was missing. He didn’t have anyone to talk to who was human like himself. There was no one to taste the first ripe peaches with him or walk with him or laugh with him. Without a wife, he could never love or be loved. Without a wife, he could never be a husband or father. Without a queen, he could never be a king – he walked alone. When Adam saw the companionship of the other creatures, Adam felt lonely. There was not another human like him in all the world. Adam, alone in the garden, felt the sting of loneliness. And God the Father was concerned for Adam’s comfort and He created a beautiful woman for him and Adam was complete. There is nothing lonelier than a man who is old and who never married and has no family. “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone” – (Ecl.4:9-11). And so Adam never walked alone again.
I’m reminded of the ‘Enola Gay,’ the name of the bomber that carried the
first A-bomb on
Are you still walking alone with no Holy Spirit Comforter in you never having been truly saved and born again? No water in all the baptistries in all the world can wash away your sins which are inward. You need to be baptized with the baptism of Jesus not the baptism of John the Baptist. John said – “He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost” – (Mt.3:11). You must be baptized inwardly with the Holy Spirit in order to have your sins washed away and to become part of the true body of Christ. “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body” – (I Cor.12:13).
Repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus in your heart by faith and you will be saved from your sins and hell and become a new born again creature in Christ. O do not spurn the love and mercy and grace of God who gave His only begotten Son on the cross as your atonement for sin. You can conquer your death and have eternal life through Christ. “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – (Rom.6:23).
Become a saint of God by faith and you’ll never walk alone again.
