The Nemesis of Genesis
“And the Lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” – (Gen.3:14,15).
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.”
“Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him: he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin…” - (Is.53:5,10).
Nemesis means (a formidable rival or opponent). Nemesis is now used as a term to describe one’s worst enemy, normally someone that is the exact opposite of oneself but it also somehow similar. The nemesis of Genesis is Christ and Antichrist. Christ is the virgin-born seed of the woman Mary, the son of God, and Antichrist is the seed of Satan – the son of perdition. They are two enemies, two rivals, two formidable opponents battling over the souls of human beings on planet earth. They are two bruisers fighting for light and darkness.
Antichrist is the Devil’s seed as are all other humans who are born of the flesh and have rejected Christ as Savior. Christ is the seed of the woman and of God, the heavenly Father and all those who are born again of the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. It’s the children of the Devil vs. the children of God. It is unseen spiritual warfare that shows itself in physical warfare and persecution also – “But as then, he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now” – (Gal.4:29).
We see here in this marvelous prophecy in Genesis a reference to a double bruising. Christ, the woman’s seed, shall bruise Satan’s head, and Satan shall bruise His heel. At His first coming, the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ, had His feet bruised by Satan on the cross. At His second coming, Christ will bruise Satan’s’ head at Armageddon. Satan bruised Christ’s feet when His feet were nailed to the cross and He was crucified. But Christ got the victory over death by His resurrection three days later. God used this bruising of His dear Son on the cross so He would be the savior of the world. He is the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world as God’s perfect offering for sin. “He was bruised for our iniquities” – amen.
The bruising of Antichrist’s head will take place when Christ returns to
earth in power with His army of saints from heaven and ‘de-feets’
the beast at Armageddon. Antichrist, the nemesis and enemy of Christ, will lose
the great battle in his warfare on this earth. Antichrist and his false prophet
will be thrown alive into the lake of fire and Satan is cast into the
bottomless pit for a thousand years. At the end of the thousand years, Satan is
loosed from his bottomless pit prison and he immediately raises a great army to
attack King Jesus in
At the cross, Satan was defeated spiritually, for there a part of fallen humanity is purchased out of the kingdom of darkness to be a part of the kingdom of light. Finally Satan will be thrown in the lake of fire, where he will be defeated eternally. The seed of the serpent-Satan are all people born only of the flesh, of the corruptible seed. “That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed” – (Rom.9:8). Again – “Being born again, not of corruptible seed , but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – (I Pet.1:23). But out of all the Devil’s seed born only of the flesh, is one seed in particular called “the Antichrist.” Out of billions of antichrist people born on the earth for 6000 years, will come one in these end days called the “Antichrist-Beast.”
Antichrist will make war against all the born again seed of God. He will persecute and kill them for not worshipping him and receiving his mark in their forehead or right hand – (Rev.13:7,15). The nemesis of Christ will be revealed soon. Satan will ever fight against righteousness and the things of God and the children of God. He is God’s nemesis and the enemy of the body of Christ.
Antichrist bruising the feet of the body of Christ during the
Tribulation is seen in (Dan.2) with Nebuchadnezzar’s Emperor image
dream… the ‘feet’ of the image is the last emperor, Antichrist. He is described
as the ‘The feet of iron and clay.”
And it’s a cruel empire like the
The breaking, bruising leg of the
Satan and his Antichrist bruise the feet of the body of Christ, not knowing that the same feet will bruise and crush them. Christ will have them ‘under his heel’ when He returns at Armageddon as King of Kings over the whole earth and makes the earth His footstool. The heel of His feet will rule over the footstool of earth. “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” – (Ps.110:1). Like the footstool when He sits on the throne of His kingdom. He will have them ‘under heel.’
The footstool is a symbol of dominion. God is pictured as a king enthroned in heaven with the earth as His footstool – “Thus saith the Lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool…” – (Is.66:1). Of Christ it is written – “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet” – (I Cor.15:25). In (Eph.1:22) God’s Word places ‘feet and head’ in the same verse – “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.” Again – “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool” – (Heb.12,13). Satan bruised the heels of Christ’s feet and the heels of His hands when he entered into Judas and betrayed Christ to be crucified on Calvary, not knowing that Calvary means “the place of the skull,” pointing to Christ bruising the head of Satan after His resurrection and when He returns to earth.
Picture Christ’s heel upon a footstool made up of all His enemies who
rejected His love on the cross. And certainly His two main enemies are Satan
and the Antichrist. When you’re saved by Christ, then you are no longer enemies
of God, but you are now the friends of God and have made peace with God through
the blood of Christ – (Rom.5:1). In fact, I was saved and born again while
kneeling over a footstool in a friend’s house on
Yes, “it pleased the Lord to
bruise him” because “he was bruised for
our iniquities” – (Is.53:10,5). It was the
Father’s will that His beloved Son be whipped and wounded and bruised and shed
His precious blood to atone for the sins of believers. By faith and believing
on Christ in our heart, we lay our sins on Christ, as the sins of
Christ was not bruised for His own sins, but for ours. “God made his soul an offering for sin.” “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all” – (Rom.8:32). He had many bruises, “He was stricken, smitten, and afflicted.” He was smitten with the hand and scourged. He was wounded in His hands, feet and side and He was crowned with thorns. He was bruised from the top of His head to the bottom of His feet and not just His feet. It was His Fathers will that he be bruised entirely as no O.T. sacrifice was – (Lev.22:21,24). Christ had no blemish or spot inwardly because He was sinless, but He was sorely bruised outwardly for the punishment of our sins.
O do not spurn God’s great love of the sacrifice of His Son or the wrath of God abideth on you. Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart and you will receive forgiveness of sins, and be saved from hell and become a new born again creature in Christ, which is your beginning of eternal life. “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” – (I Jn.4:9,10).
Antichrist, the nemesis of Christ, comes soon and it will come to a head at the battle of Armageddon.
“And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly” – (Rom.16:10).
