All about the Millennium – Part Two

King Solomon, whose name means peace and who had no wars during his reign of peace, is a type of King Jesus during the Millennium. The eternal scourge of blood and war will cease when the Prince of Peace comes back. Millions upon millions upon millions, both soldiers and civilians, have drenched the battlefields of the earth with their blood in senseless fighting imposed by the monstrous appetites of power-mad rulers. Especially do the strong nations, the superpowers, prey upon the weaker nations like a beast of prey – (Dan.7). The long history of the world is written in blood. The world today is scarcely more than a huge arsenal, full of hell-bombs and bristling angrily with poised intercontinental missiles like the stiffly erect quills on an enraged porcupine. Why? Rulers require it.

In the millennium it shall not be. King Jesus is unlike all other human rulers crazed with a compelling lust for power. With Him on the world throne, there will be no quest for crowns and territory and authority. There is no need to gain, no need to conquer, no ‘balance of power’ fears. The nations of the world under His dominion, “Shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” – (Is.2:4). No more senseless slaughter of men made in the image of God. Peace is everywhere. Gone the fear and anguish of invasion! Gone the blood and tears of war! Gone the marching armies! Gone the tanks and planes and bombs and bullets! Gone the shrieks of the dying! War – God curse the evil word – is gone from planet earth. That is, with the single exception of the final battle of the ages at the end of the Millennium – the battle of Gog and Magog – (Rev.20:7-9). Satan loses this final battle against Christ and is thrown into the lake of fire.

The final battle of Gog and Magog, when the people of the earth are tested at the end of the Millennium, proves to the universe, that unless people are born again by the Spirit of God with a new heart, they are easy victims of Satan’s wiles. The philosophy of today is that if you can give a man an ideal environment, he will be good. The universities and the governments of the world operate under this philosophy. But God proves to man that even after 1000 years of ideal righteous government by the Son of God, the sinful nature of man does not change. The reason is given in (Rom.8:7) “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Again – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jer.17:9). God demonstrates that man even under the most favorable circumstances will fall into sin if left to his choice. He also demonstrates the incurable wickedness of Satan.

The wisdom of King Solomon during his 40 year reign of peace is also a type of King Jesus’ Millennial reign. As the queen of Sheba came to Jerusalem to hear the wisdom of Solomon, so shall people from all over the world come to Jerusalem to hear a much, much, much greater wise man, the Lord Jesus Christ. And so it shall be said again – “Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom” – (I King 10:8). The Lord Jesus said – “The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here” (Mt.12:42). Jesus Christ is the infinite wisdom of God – “…Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God” – (I Cor.1:24). Again – “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption” – (I Cor.1:30). Again “In whom are hid all the treasure of wisdom and knowledge” (Col.2:3).

The queen of Sheba gave much gold and rare spices and precious stones to Solomon as God was showing us the treasure of wisdom and knowledge of God which is worth far more – (I Kings10:10). Job tells us where wisdom is found – from God. “It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold” – (Job 28:15-19). In Jesus Christ is found all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In the millennium we shall have 1000 years to feast on the wisdom of Christ – amen.

In the Millennium the universal imprint is “Holiness unto the Lord.” It is a common practice for the nations to place their imprints on their products like – made in U.S.A. During the Millennium all products will bear the singular inscription – “Holiness unto the Lord”. The prophet Zechariah wrote – “In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar, yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts:” – (Zech.14:20,21). For the first time in human history holiness will not only be a beautiful way of life but actually a popular word. A literal imprint, yes, but more important by far, an indelible imprint in the lives of millions who love and worship King Jesus, the Lord. For the first time in history Jerusalem will be a true Holy Jerusalem and a light of holiness unto the world.

In the Millennium Holy Jerusalem will be the capital of the earth. It is not by accident that Jerusalem is the geographical center of the entire earth. It is located very close to the Mediterranean Sea which means (the middle of the earth). Jerusalem will be the capital city of King Jesus and of the entire world during the Millennium. Jerusalem became the civil and spiritual center of the Jewish people, the people and the city both divinely chosen. It was there that Christ our Savior was crucified: it was there that the church was born and empowered at Pentecost: it is there to which the Jews are returning – even though yet in unbelief. It is the city to which King Jesus will return from heaven, His feet literally touching down on the Mount of Olives from which He ascended back to His heavenly Father the fortieth day after His resurrection.

It will in fact become His headquarters for a world kingdom of righteousness and peace. “For God is the King of all the earth…” – (Ps.47:7). The whole earth, and I mean everyone, will sing praises to Christ and His father – “Great is the lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King” (Ps.48:1,2). I can hardly want to sing these praises to King Jesus when I visit Jerusalem, during the millennium. I have no desire to visit unholy Jerusalem of today. And no wonder that Satan is fighting so hard today over the city of Jerusalem – Christ is returning there to rule over the earth.

During the Millennium Jerusalem is the world’s center of worship. Even in the distant past, Jerusalem was the center of Jewish worship. Pilgrimages back to the Holy City and to the temple were customary on special feast days, even as the Jews began to be dispersed far from Israel. That’s why the population of Jerusalem would contain over a million people in those days instead of the normal 70,000. The Jews had come back to worship from both far and near. And so during the Millennium, worship will be both constant and worldwide with Jerusalem as the center of it all. “From one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord’ – (Is.66:23). Obviously, great throngs of worshippers, both Jews and Gentiles, will come daily to our Lord’s capital city. “And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I will go also. Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord” – (Zech.8:21,22). O with what ardor do the multitudes come!

Worship is often dull and routine. Going to church is so often habitual monotony. But not during the Millennium. Worship then will be with maximum ardor and intensity. Men will worship the Lord Jesus ardently throughout the whole earth, not just in Jerusalem. We have the sure knowledge that King Jesus sits on the throne in His world capital, administering His divine perfect government worldwide – all is right with the world. Jesus Christ is there, not just for 33 years but forever. There will be no human, spiritual ice bergs then, at least not outwardly. I can’t hardly wait to preach and teach then.

During the millennium, when the Divine carpenter comes back, we shall help Him build the Millennial temple – (Ezk.40-48). It will be a massive temple, far beyond anything earth has ever seen. Simply because it is to be the temple of King Jesus: because it is indeed a memorial temple for all nations. The ‘shekinah’ – the glory of the Lord Jesus – will be there abiding. For that is what makes it the holy temple of the Lord in glorious reality. The earthly house of the Lord of glory. This temple, the mountain of the Lord’s house, will be His throne in Jerusalem from which He rules the world. He will be a King of Kings and high priest ruling with both political and religious power over the whole earth – a temple on a mountain, high and lifted up and exalted.

Jesus, along with us saints, will be the builder. The blue prints are already drawn up and recorded in Ezekiel. “Behold the man whose name is the BRANCH… he shall build the temple of the Lord. Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne and he shall be a priest upon his throne… and they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord” – (Zech.6:11-15).

We saints have helped Him build the spiritual temple of the Lord, the Church, and we shall help Him build this one also. He will be the executive branch and the judicial branch and the legislative branch to rule over the whole earth. Christ will sacrifice animals there. The temple will be memorial in nature, looking back in time to the cross of Christ, just as the temple in the O.T. pointed ahead in time to the cross. It will be a great teaching center of the world to show the atoning death of Christ on the cross, as the “lamb of God” starting from the sacrifices of Adam and Abel. The O.T. sacrifices had value in that they were pointing forward and were types of the bloody death of Christ on the cross. And they will have equal value in pointing back to the death of Christ as an accomplished fact. Yes, a memorial temple – amen.

The celebration of the Lord’s Supper through the last 20 centuries has not taken away one iota from the work of Christ on the cross – in fact it is of much value to the believer as a memorial. The sacrifices during the Millennium are going to look forward to the coming of Christ and His death on the cross in the same way that in our day the Lord’s Supper looks back to the cross. The sacrifices and the temple will show the universe this magnificent truth. The human family has a great deal of difficulty learning spiritual lessons and this temple learning center will reveal to the world the scarlet thread of redemption from the beginning to Christ on the cross. The people on earth must learn this truth before we can go on to the eternal state and New Jerusalem on earth. They must see this truth of the physical temple and the spiritual temple because after the millennium there will be no more temple – (Rev.21:22). This will not take away from the glory of Christ during His millennium reign, but instead will enhance His glory.

Be saved and born again. Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart for forgiveness of sins and you will become a new born again creature in Christ. You will receive eternal life and be a king and priest ruling with Christ during the blessed millennium.
