Lusting and Despising God’s Manna – His Word

“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna… that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live”– (Du.8:3).
“And Jesus answered him saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” – (Lk.4:4).
The manna which God provided for
First we will consider the manna as the Bible.
The manna was a gift from God in heaven, a supernatural gift,
God rained the manna down from heaven. The King James Bible is not a product
manufactured by man, it’s not a product of this earth.
It was a gift from God and a miracle. The manna fed two million Jews for 40 years.
Each person ate about an ‘homer’ a day or 9 million lbs.
a day. Over a million tons of manna were gathered
The manna was a ‘small round thing,’ small in size. We have the complete revelation of God in one book – the sum total of God’s revealed truth in a book that can be carried in your pocket. All we need for salvation and to sustain our souls throughout our earthly pilgrimage – small but mighty.
The manna was ‘white’ in color. White is the color of purity – “The words of the Lord are pure words…” – (Ps.12:6). The King James Bible is pure morally and spiritually. It is inerrant and infallible and uncorrupted. “Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it” – (Ps.119:140). Again – “Every word of God is pure” – (Prov.30:5). There is no mixture of error, no mistakes, no contradictions and no blemishes. And it’s not lost but you can hold it in your hand – the King James Bible. It’s the ‘Holy’ scripture because it’s God’s book of Divine purity and godliness. Let us feed on God’s Word.
The manna must be chewed – it must be masticated. We must learn to chew the cud on God’s Word and ruminate on it – we must go over in our mind repeatedly and slowly whatever the Holy Spirit is teaching us through the Word. So many of God’s children have never learned to use their ‘spiritual’ teeth. The Bread of Life must be chewed and meditated upon if we are to have good spiritual health. The born again spiritual man needs the manna food for his soul to build up his new nature and nourish his faith.
In (Ex.16:31) it says that the manna tasted like honey – sweet. The honey of God’s word will give you the godly knowledge and wisdom you need to overcome Satan and live a godly victorious life and know good from evil. King Saul’s son Jonathan said of his father after eating honey – “My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey” – (I Sam.14:29). Again – “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth” – (Ps.119:103). God told Ezekiel to eat the Bible scroll – “And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness” – (Ezk.3:3). I’ve eaten honey for 35 years as I studied my Bible and you should also in obedience to God’s Word. “My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul..” – (Prov.24:13,14). Be saved and born again and eat honey and feast upon God’s manna and His precious Word will give you knowledge and wisdom.
The manna was incomprehensible to the
natural man. “And when the children of

We are in the end times and we still have God’s blessed Word, it is still not against the law to read but we don’t know how much longer that will be. May we prize it more highly, read it more carefully and study it more diligently. This is the secret of a healthy and vigorous spiritual life. It is by earnestly desiring the sincere milk of the Word, that we grow thereby. It’s not by the 2% diluted milk of the NIV but by the 100% pure King James milk that we grow in truth. It’s by daily feeding on the King James bread of life that we obtain the strength we need. It is through having God’s Word in our heart that we are kept from sinning against Him. Like Jeremiah we can say – “Thy words were found and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart” – (Jer.15:16).
There were many, many ways that the manna
could be prepared in the wilderness. It could be baked or fried or ground to make
bread or a cake of it, etc. Mrs. Moses probably compiled a cookbook entitled
‘One Hundred and One Recipes for Manna.’ It was an adequate food, a marvelous
food and He showed us it was this food which the people despised. Here in rich
The Bible is spiritually discerned. You must be born again by the Holy Spirit in order to understand it. The natural unsaved man thinks it’s foolishness. You first must be saved and become a new born again creature through Christ. You must become a child of God, born again into the family of God and able to cry out in the Spirit - Abba, Father. A child of the greatest Daddy in the universe. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again” – (Jn.3:6,7). You are born again by believing the seed of God’s Word – “Being born again, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” – (I Pet.1:23). You can have eternal life and live forever. Repent of your sins and believe in your heart by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will receive forgiveness of sins. Born again describes what happens to you when you’re truly saved. God loves you and sent His dearly beloved Son to be your Savior. Do not spurn this love of God by rejecting God’s only way of salvation. “How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation…” – (Heb.2:3). Water baptism on the outside of your body cannot wash your sins way on the inside of your body. You must be baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ – (I Cor.12:13). Be saved and then feast on the manna of God’s Word.
