The Jesus Jubile

“Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the Jubile to sound on the tenth day of seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family” – (Lev.25:9,10).

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – (Jn.8:36).

In the Old Testament every 50 years was a year of Jubile in Israel. Across the whole land the trumpet of the Jubilee would blow and the people would be jubilant and rejoice for there would be great freedom and liberty. They would proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all the inhabitants. These six words are inscribed on our Liberty Bell in Philadelphia ‘Proclaim liberty throughout all the land’ and this liberty is the bedrock of our nation, - ‘liberty and justice for all.’ Philadelphia is the birth place of our nation and our Constitution.

In that day of Jubilee, the day of atonement, the land would return back to the original owner or his descendants. If a man was a slave, when that trumpet was sounded he went free, the shackles were broken. The reason why God established the Jubile Year was to prevent a permanent system of economic classes. The Jubile Year had a leveling affect on their culture; it gave everyone a chance to start over, economically and socially. The Jubile Year reminds us that God wants people to be free. It also stands as a witness to God’s desire for justice on earth and calls into question any social practice that leads to permanent bondage and loss of economic opportunity.

The Jubile Year was launched with a blast from the ram’s horn trumpet on the Day of Atonement, signifying a call to joy, liberation, and for doing justice and loving mercy. And Jesus Christ is now God’s sacrifice of atonement, whereby a man is redeemed and set free from the bondage of his sins – “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement – (Rom.5:11). We have great joy and jubilation in our hearts when we’re saved and set free from the bondage of our sins. The day of our new birth is the Day of Atonement and the Day of Jubile as we thank God for sending His beloved Son to die on the cross as our Savior.

The year of Jubile is likened to this age of grace when the gospel trumpet is preached to slaves of sin and captives of Satan. “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – (Rom.6:17,18,23). The Lord Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – (Jn.8:32,36). When we’re saved and born again by Jesus Christ, we have our own personal Day of Jubile - we have freedom from sin – Jubile Jesus – amen. When you receive Christ as Savior the sin question is settled and you go free. He makes you free inwardly – “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life” – (Rom.6:22). “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” – (Gal.5:1).

When the Lord Jesus began His ministry, He preached this is His hometown synagogue in Nazareth – “The Spirit of the Lord in upon me, because he with anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…” – (Luke 4:18). God has sent us preachers to proclaim liberty and salvation in Christ by blowing the gospel trumpet to every creature so that they may be redeemed by Christ from the slavery of sin and Satan, and our restoration to the glorious liberty of the children of God. We await the rapture trumpet which shall release the dead in Christ out of the bondage of the grave and restore us to our heavenly possessions. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” – (2 Cor.3:17).

Whether we be master or slave, free or bond, Jew or Gentile, all need to be set free from the bondage of sin. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond not free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” – (Gal.3:28). You are free born the moment you’re born again in Christ – it costs you nothing – it is free by God’s grace. You don’t need a great sum to purchase your freedom, it’s the free gift of God – “But not as the offense, so also the free gift. For it through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many”: - (Rom.5:15). God’s ‘free gift’ of salvation in His beloved Son makes you ‘free from sin.’ – PTL for Jubile Jesus – amen and amen. God’s emancipation proclamation is to all men – both master and slave.

The best example of the Jesus Jubilee was a white Englishman named John Newton. He composed the words to the finest hymn of all – ‘Amazing Grace,’ while pastor of a church in Olney, England. He was a wicked sailor who worked on slave ships and ended up commanding one. Before being freed by God’s saving grace in Christ, he had no qualms about swearing up a blue streak, blaspheming God, jeering the bible, scoffing at piety, engaging in vile sins, and buying and selling human beings as chattel. His sins put him into such bondage that he became a servant of slaves himself. But then he got saved and freed from his sins by the Lord Jesus in March, 1748. He was both a slave and a slave trader. He mentored a young Christian named William Wilberforce who got the British Parliament to pass the Act for Abolition of the Slave Trade in 1807 just before Newton died. The Jesus Jubilee – amen. Christ the great emancipator. He redeems and sets free from the bondage of sins – he unshackles you.

I’m reminded of the U.S. and our nation’s foundation upon the Solid Rock, Christ Jesus and our liberty for all people. We have 50 states in the U.S. and this number ‘50’ points to the Jubile and freedom – loving U.S.A. But now we’re turning our back on Christ and the liberty that came from Him and we’ve become a wicked nation and we’re fast losing our freedoms.

Our 50th state Hawaii shows us more than any other state, the end of our republic and our free democracy and becoming an empire. Since 1959, Hawaii has been America’s model to the world for diversity and peaceful integration. It has been a kind of rainbow society with all races getting along and a paragon of racial accord. Half of all marriages are across racial and ethnic lines and most neighborhoods are integrated. But now (2007) racial tension is simmering in Hawaii’s melting pot, especially with native Hawaiians attacking U.S. soldiers there. There are 26 U.S. military bases there. Every time they look at U.S. soldiers they are reminded of the United State’s imperial overthrow of Hawaii in 1893.

A little over a hundred years ago the U.S. Empire began in earnest with the seizure of Hawaii in 1893 and the annexing of the island chain in 1898. White U.S. plantation owners conspired with President Harrison’s administration in Washington to overthrow the existing monarchy of Hawaii. This was made possible by the protection of the U.S. Navy which sent ashore 167 sailors and marines. The U.S. military was used to depose the Hawaiian monarchy. Thousands of Japanese, Chinese and Filipinos immigrated to Hawaii to work on deplorable sugar plantations as virtual slave laborers. They were bound to their white masters by long term labor contracts. In 1959 Hawaii was made a state because we needed the islands for our military bases in the pacific. With 26 U.S. military bases there, Hawaii is nothing more than a floating aircraft carrier. I believe the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 was some of God’s judgment upon U.S. for our seizing Hawaii. And now we have overthrown another nation in an unjust war, Iraq. In another 60 years we would probably make it a state as well because we need it for our military base in the Mideast. We are building bases in Babylon-Iraq as fast as we can build them.

God has warned U.S. with our imperial land grab of Hawaii in 1893 and making it our 50th state. The number ‘50’ in the Bible means liberty and freedom and now a little over a hundred years later we’re about to lose our liberty and our democratic republic and elect our first emperor.

The U.S. is using its military as a beast preying upon weaker nations like the other empires of history. And very soon God in judgment will give U.S. the Antichrist-Beast to rule over U.S. David Malo of Hawaii said this about our seizure of Hawaii – “If a big wave comes in, big fishes will come from the dark ocean which you never saw before, and when they see the small fishes they will eat them up; such also is the case with large animals they will prey on the smaller ones. The ships of the white men have come, and smart people have arrived from the great countries which we have never seen before. They know our people are few in number and living in a small country: they will eat us up; such has always been the case with large countries, the small ones have been gobbled up.” Our 50th state, Hawaii, shows us our turning away from a republic to a beastly empire – from freedom in Christ to bondage by Antichrist.

Will God give U.S. an Antichrist-Beast who was born in Hawaii as His judgment and justice upon U.S.? Will the beast come from Hawaii our 50th state, which shows us our free republic and also our coming emperor? Will God put our nation into bondage and Imperial-dictatorship because we’re chosen Antichrist over Christ? We urgently need to repent and turn back to Christ and righteousness like the motto of Hawaii tells U.S. – ‘The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.’ If we fail to do so, we shall be ‘overthrown’ like Sodom and Gomorrah – “And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly”– (2 Pet.2:6). Babylon-USA will be burnt up like Sodom in one hour for flaunting the abominable sin of Sodomy in the face of a holy and righteous God – (Rev.18:17,18). “And Babylon, the glory of the kingdoms,… shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah – (Is.13:19).

Freedom from sin is shown us clearly with the first Passover of the Jews from Egypt. The Jews were Egyptian slaves and God freed them by the blood of the Passover lamb. The Lord Jesus was crucified on the day of Passover to set you free from the bondage of your sins. “For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us” – (I Cor.5:7). He is the Passover Lamb whose blood frees you now.

I was working as a prison guard on March 17, 1972 when the Lord Jesus saved me and now I sing this hymn in truth: Like Peter in (Acts 12) God brought my soul out of prison.

He set me free, yes, He set me free, He broke the bonds of prison for me,

I’m glory bound my Jesus to see, glory to God, He set me free!

Are you born again and saved and set free from the bondage of your sins? Have you had your Jesus Jubile? Christ is the great emancipator who frees both the master and slave from the bondage of sin. The emancipation proclamation is the gospel of Christ that we proclaim to the world. God loves you and sent His Son to be your Savior. Do not spurn the love and mercy and grace of God in His dearly beloved Son. Repent of your sins and by faith believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin and become a new born again creature in Christ. Be freed from the bondage of your sins – soul free.
