The Jesus Jubile
“Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the Jubile to sound on the tenth day of seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family” – (Lev.25:9,10).
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – (Jn.8:36).
In the Old Testament every 50 years was a
year of Jubile in
In that day of Jubilee, the day of atonement, the land would return back to the original owner or his descendants. If a man was a slave, when that trumpet was sounded he went free, the shackles were broken. The reason why God established the Jubile Year was to prevent a permanent system of economic classes. The Jubile Year had a leveling affect on their culture; it gave everyone a chance to start over, economically and socially. The Jubile Year reminds us that God wants people to be free. It also stands as a witness to God’s desire for justice on earth and calls into question any social practice that leads to permanent bondage and loss of economic opportunity.
The Jubile Year was launched with a blast from the ram’s horn trumpet on the Day of Atonement, signifying a call to joy, liberation, and for doing justice and loving mercy. And Jesus Christ is now God’s sacrifice of atonement, whereby a man is redeemed and set free from the bondage of his sins – “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement” – (Rom.5:11). We have great joy and jubilation in our hearts when we’re saved and set free from the bondage of our sins. The day of our new birth is the Day of Atonement and the Day of Jubile as we thank God for sending His beloved Son to die on the cross as our Savior.
The year of Jubile is likened to this age of grace when the gospel trumpet is preached to slaves of sin and captives of Satan. “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” – (Rom.6:17,18,23). The Lord Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – (Jn.8:32,36). When we’re saved and born again by Jesus Christ, we have our own personal Day of Jubile - we have freedom from sin – Jubile Jesus – amen. When you receive Christ as Savior the sin question is settled and you go free. He makes you free inwardly – “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness and the end everlasting life” – (Rom.6:22). “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” – (Gal.5:1).
When the Lord Jesus began His ministry, He preached this is His hometown synagogue in Nazareth – “The Spirit of the Lord in upon me, because he with anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…” – (Luke 4:18). God has sent us preachers to proclaim liberty and salvation in Christ by blowing the gospel trumpet to every creature so that they may be redeemed by Christ from the slavery of sin and Satan, and our restoration to the glorious liberty of the children of God. We await the rapture trumpet which shall release the dead in Christ out of the bondage of the grave and restore us to our heavenly possessions. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” – (2 Cor.3:17).
Whether we be master or slave, free or bond, Jew or Gentile, all need to be set free from the bondage of sin. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond not free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” – (Gal.3:28). You are free born the moment you’re born again in Christ – it costs you nothing – it is free by God’s grace. You don’t need a great sum to purchase your freedom, it’s the free gift of God – “But not as the offense, so also the free gift. For it through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many”: - (Rom.5:15). God’s ‘free gift’ of salvation in His beloved Son makes you ‘free from sin.’ – PTL for Jubile Jesus – amen and amen. God’s emancipation proclamation is to all men – both master and slave.

Are you born again and saved and set free from the bondage of your sins? Have you had your Jesus Jubile? Christ is the great emancipator who frees both the master and slave from the bondage of sin. The emancipation proclamation is the gospel of Christ that we proclaim to the world. God loves you and sent His Son to be your Savior. Do not spurn the love and mercy and grace of God in His dearly beloved Son. Repent of your sins and by faith believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of sin and become a new born again creature in Christ. Be freed from the bondage of your sins – soul free.
