Jesus - Savior

“And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour: there is none beside me” – (Is.45:21).

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins” – (Mt.1:21).

“… from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour – (Titus 1:4).

   Notice one of the greatest titles of the Lord Jesus – Savior. Throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament the Lord is the Savior and Jesus Christ is Lord and the only Savior of the world. His very name Jesus means Savior. It was why the Father sent His Son into this world – we absolutely need a Savior. It is our greatest need – we need to be saved from our sins and from hell, our just punishment for sins. Jesus’ mission was to save sinners from the wrath of God. If you die without getting ‘saved,’ you will go to hell forever because there is no other way of escape. “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation” – (Heb.2:3). You can neglect many things but to neglect salvation in Christ has eternal consequences. Neglect means – (to give little attention to) (to disregard) (to leave undone or unattended through carelessness) (to ignore – to overlook). This is what most people do with “so great salvation in Christ”, they neglect it all their lives, then they die and go to hell.

   God the Father says we must be saved and so in His love and grace, He gave us His beloved Son to die on the cross so that we can be saved. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved” – (Acts 4:12). O, the marvelous grace of God, saved by grace through Jesus Christ. “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God’ – (Eph.2:8). It is not through our good works, we cannot save ourselves, it is only God that can save us – “Not of works, lest any man should boast” – (Eph.1:9).

   Salvation is the dynamic act of saving people from death. Many times in the Old Testament God saved the people of Israel from death from their enemies by raising up saviors – “… and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviors, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies” – (Neh.9:27). They were saved from physical death, but our greatest enemy is death itself. And the most important death to be saved from is the lake of fire, which is the second death. “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” – (I Cor.15:26). “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” – (Rev.20:14,15). When the Lord Jesus saves us from our sins, we are saved from the first physical death and we our saved from the second death in the lake of fire, both of which are the just punishment for our lifetime of sinning and breaking God’s righteous laws.

   When we’re saved by Jesus, we have God’s promise of a new immortal body and eternal life and not being hurt of the second death. When we resurrect from our graves like our Savior on that first Easter morning, we shall have new glorified, eternal bodies that shall never die. “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body…” – (Philip.3:21). “He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death” – (Rev.2:11). When we are saved by Jesus Christ, we are saved from the penalty of sin, both the first death of the body and the second death of the soul. O, the love of God and His mercy and grace for sending us His beloved Son to die on the cross to be our Savior and save us from our sins and death. What a savior, Jesus Christ our Lord. Is He your Savior?

   And “Salvation is of the Jews” – (Jn.4:22), through the Jewish Savior Jesus Christ. All the world’s hatred of the Jews can be seen in this context. The devil hates the Jews and causes persecution against them because the Jews gave us the Bible and the Savior. How do we get saved? God has ordained that the preaching of the gospel is the means of salvation through Christ. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” – (Rom.1:16). We exercise faith when we hear the gospel preached and we get saved and born again by the Holy Spirit. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” – (Rom.10:13). But it must be done in truth, no deceiver shall be saved. For our God looks upon the heart and He requires repentance, a turning away from our wicked ways.Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins” – (Acts 5:31).

   It’s the blood that Christ shed on the cross that saves us all. All the bloody sacrifices of animals and doves in the Old Testament culminated in the bloody, perfect, supreme sacrifice for sin, once and for all, in God’s Son on the cross. “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” – (Rom.5:9). Are you one of God’s remnant that is saved and a member of His church? “…. And the Lord added to this church daily such as should be saved” – (Acts 2:47). Don’t go to hell. God has sent His Son to be your Savior and to save you from your sins and from hell. Be saved like Paul the apostle – “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners: of whom I am chief.”

   Easter time – the time of salvation. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus our Savior. It proves that if you’re saved by Christ , you shall also resurrect to eternal life and not go to hell, which is the wrath of God on sinners. “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” – (1 Thes.5:9). Hell is the wrath of God upon sinners in the earth but there is also the wrath of God upon the earth during the great tribulation. Those that are saved will not go through this day of God’s wrath. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” – (Jn.3:36). God has provided a way of escape by translating His true church up out of here before the day of God’s wrath. Like Enoch, we shall be translated that we should not see death. We are saved by Christ. We shall escape because we have the ‘so great salvation’ in Christ, not because we’ve earned it by suffering during the great tribulation.

   Baptism by water on the outside of your body can never wash away your sins on the inside of your body. Only the blood of Christ can wash away your sins and then the Holy Spirit baptizes you into the body of Christ – inwardly. “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” – (Rev.1:5). “For by one spirit are we all baptized into one body…” – (I Cor.12:13). When you’re saved you become a new born again creature in Christ – “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – (2 Cor.5:17). You get baptized after you’re saved as a visible sign outwardly that you have been washed of your sins inwardly by the blood of Christ.

Saved by the Blood

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun,
Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Refrain:

Saved!...     Saved!...
My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone!
Saved!...   Saved!.

I’m saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The angels rejoicing because it is done;
A child of the Father, joint-heir with the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The Father He spake, and His will it was done;
Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son;
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
All hail to the Father, all hail to the Son,
All hail to the Spirit, the great Three in One!
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

   Rejoice – God has given us a Savior. For without Jesus Christ, you have no hope to conquer death. If you’re not saved, repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith for remission and forgiveness of sins. If this is done in truth, you will be saved and become a new born again creature in Christ with the Holy Spirit in you and you can PTL Jesus for eternity for saving you. Don’t neglect so great a salvation.

The Lord Jesus Christ – the Savior of the world.
