Christ: The Blessed Hope

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ” – (Tit.2:13).

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” – (Heb.11:1).

Are you looking for Jesus? I don’t mean standing in the yard and looking toward the heavens, but are you expecting Him at any time? Would you love to see Jesus return to this earth today? Among the last words in the Bible are the words of Jesus – “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly!” And John answered – “Even so, come, Lord Jesus” – (Rev.22:20). Could you pray, Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus? Or does it frighten you to think of His coming because you’re not saved? True born again Christians are marked by this “… unto all them also that love his appearing” – (2 Tim.4:8). All true believers eagerly look for Christ’s second coming.

It is written in (Heb.9:28) – “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Jesus is coming for those who are saved by Him, and look for that blessed event. The second coming of Christ is, to the believer, “That blessed hope.” It is not a frightening doctrine, but a blessed doctrine. Christ’s second coming is a comforting hope, an assuring hope. It is blessed and most precious to the saints.

The hope of the Church is the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church is in the world, but not of it. Our citizenship is in heaven, our Head is in heaven. Spiritually, we are members of His body, bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh. Spiritually we are married to Him, but we long for the day of the rapture, when Christ shall rapture us up to be with Him in the clouds and give us a glorified body like His glorious body. And then we shall have the greatest official marriage in the universe, the marriage of the Lamb and we His bride and we shall see Him face to face, the one who loved us and gave Himself for us on the cross. O, it’s a blessed hope, to be translated like Enoch and be with Jesus.

We also look forward to the blessed hope of returning to earth with Him as a mighty army at Armageddon when He destroys the Beast and His armies and then He will reign forever on earth as emperor and we shall be kings and priests and rule and reign with Him. “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” – (Mt.24:30). “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall we also appear with him in glory” – (Col.3:4). There is no ‘think-so, or ‘maybe-so’ about it. The bodies of the dead saints will be raised incorruptible, living saints will be changed and translated into new glorified bodies in a twinkling of an eye and we’ll all be caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus (I Thes.4:13-18- I Cor.15:51-55). (Col.3:4) gives assurance and hope to the born again saints, that when Christ comes again we will come with Him and share in His glory and have glorified bodies. We shall share in the glorious appearing of Christ’s second coming and the blessed hope – amen.

In (Heb.11:1) we have the Divine definition of faith – the only definition of faith in the Bible. We read much about faith, but only here do we have the definition of what faith is. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…” the things we hope for are things that are promised to the believer in the Word of God. “…but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?” (Rom.8:24). There are many things that we hope for that are promised in God’s Word, but the saint is not anxious – “But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it” – (Rom.8:25).

We don’t see, with the natural eye, all these promised things, but we see with the eye of faith as we believe God’s Word. We hope for the invisible things seen only with our spiritual eyes of faith that have been opened when we’re saved by Christ. Faith assures us of “things not seen.” Faith accepts as substance the things promised, things invisible, because the Lord promised them. Faith is not blind acceptance, but a certain and reasonable hope based upon the sure Word of God. Yes, Christ is our Savior; He is our “blessed hope” and by faith we place our future hopes in Him and Him alone. Christ is God in human flesh and when we hope in God, we hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is the Word of God made flesh and by faith we place our hope in Him and His Word. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…” – (Jn.1:14). Again “…and his name is called the Word of God” – (Rev.19:13). Faith and hope go together – they are inseparable.

Don’t put your faith and hope in a human being and his words; put your faith and hope in the Lord Jesus and the Word of God which is infallible. God’s Word is incapable of error and will never mislead, deceive or disappoint you. It is absolutely certain.

We have a man running for the president of the U.S. named Barack Obama. He tells us over and over again in his pride that Barack is Arabian for ‘blessed.’ He is also using the word ‘Hope’ as the cornerstone of His campaign and used often in his speeches.  He’s being called “the symbol of hope for America.” He became popular as a junior senator from Illinois after giving the keynote speech at the 2004 Democrat convention entitled “The Audacity of Hope” and he has since written a book by that title also. It’s as if he is imitating and counterfeiting Christ as the “blessed hope.”  What he is doing is like a false Christ preaching the audacity of false hope. I know that it’s a false hope because it’s not the hope in Christ and God’s Word. Just before Christ our Blessed Hope returns, we now have a ‘false blessed hope’ named Barack Obama – beware of him. Obama’s campaign theme of hope is a direct lift from Jesse Jackson’s 1988 campaign theme ‘keep hope alive.”

Before Christ came to preach his gospel, all of the Gentiles were – “Strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope…” – (Eph.2:12). Now we can place our hope and faith in Christ and receive eternal life. Obama is receiving Christ-like adoration from the ‘hopeless’ Americans who are now following and ‘believing’ in him and his false hope. He’s a false Christ deceiving and seducing the ‘hopeless’ with a false gospel of hope and change that is evil change. Obama is asking people to place their faith and hope in him and not Christ. Obama’s message of hope is an empty message for the void in people’s hearts that only Christ can fill. The Obama cult shows how empty and desperate people are to believe Obama’s speeches that have no substance and can never conquer our death and give us everlasting life. Obama’s hope is a dead hope that is only for this life and gives no hope beyond the grave – “According to the hope of eternal life” – (Tit.3:7).

Jesus Christ came down to this earth to confront and conquer man’s greatest problem – sin and the wages of sin which is death. And so He died on the cross as our Savior to save us from our sins and then He resurrected from death to prove that He had power over death. “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable, But now is Christ risen from the dead…” – (I Cor.15:19,20). Place your hope and faith in Christ. Be saved and born again by believing in Christ and get the victory over your death, your great enemy. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – (Jn.3:16). Now that’s the promise of hope from the Lord Jesus, the sinless one, not the false hope of Obama the sinner. Put your faith in Christ the Blessed Hope and not the false blessed hope of Obama. Our Blessed Hope is coming soon – “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Do not be seduced by the beguiling, enticing words of an antichrist like Obama, “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect” – (Mk.13:21). Jesus Christ is God’s elect and those of us who are saved by Him and are also Gods elect. We are elected by God to be kings and priests to rule and reign on this earth beneath God’s elect, His beloved Son. Man would never elect Jesus Christ to rule over this world as emperor, but God has. A wicked nation may very well elect the Antichrist to rule over U.S. as God’s judgment upon us. “..The most high ruleth in the kingdom of men, and setteth up over it the basest of men” – (Dan.4:17). Enter the Beast, of whom emperor Nebuchadnezzar the beast was but a type. Will some of God’s elect vote for and help elect the Antichrist?

It is written “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (I Pet.1:3). The born again believer’s great hope is for a triumphant rapture to glory or an equally triumphant exit from the grave. Our hope lies beyond the grave. The new birth is the crux of the whole matter “hath begotten us again unto a lively hope.” We are “begotten again” or born again unto a lively hope; it’s the hope of external life of which our new birth is a down payment. It’s a hope in us that is alive. Our hope is based on something very substantial. It is based on the resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead. That is the great substance of our faith – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…” His resurrection guarantees our resurrection.

After our Savior died and shed His precious blood on Calvary, and resurrected, it is written – “The graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many” – (Mt.27:52,53). Christ arose and many others arose. They were the first fruits of the coming end-time harvest.

Do you have this born again hope with you? Have you been saved from your sins and hell and become a new born again creature in Christ? Born again describes what happens to you when you’re truly saved – “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – (2 Cor.5:17). Without being born again you have no living hope within you; you are still dead in trespasses and sins and destined for hell and without hope; you are one of the hopeless that will end up worshipping Antichrist. Christ is the only hope for mankind that is dead in trespasses and sins.

Repent of your sins and believe in your heart by faith on the Lord Jesus and you will receive forgiveness of sins and be baptized by the Holy Spirit into the living body of Christ and be born again.

He Lives

He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!

You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

When you are begotten again unto this living hope you will never, never place your faith and hope in the Obama’s of this world.

Yes – Christ: The Blessed Hope.
