Grace Hung on the Cross

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" - (Eph.2:4-9).

††

†† Grace is the unmerited love and mercy of God and we see this grace in His beloved Son hanging on the cross for our sins. It was an act of grace when love caused God the Father to send His only dear Son down from heaven and to be born as a man and solve man's greatest problem, sin and the punishment of sin which is death. That is what Easter is all about. Righteous justice could not dismiss the sentence of death on all of us, but love caused the righteous Judge himself to bear the harshest of penalties known to a Father, the giving of His dear Son on the cross to die in the place of sinners. Yes, grace hung on the cross and without that grace man is without hope.

†† God's daughter Grace didn't hang on the cross, His Son grace did. And God told Moses - "...and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will shew mercy" - (Ex.33:19). And God the Father shows Grace to all that believe in Christ in their heart by faith and get saved and born again - both Jews and Gentiles. You cannot save yourself, you need the Savior, Christ Jesus.

†† It was an act of grace, when love caused the Lord Jesus to surrender Himself to be tortured and nailed to the cross in order that sinners who get saved might use His bloody death as payment for their own sins and escape eternal damnation in hell and have eternal life. Grace is an act wholly motivated by love and mercy that gives to them in need, even to those who are undeserving. Yes, grace hung on the cross. Let's praise him for eternity. God gave His beloved Son, it was a free gift of grace, and the greatest sacrifice He could give. Not an animal, but the perfect, sinless, supreme sacrifice of His dear Son. O sinner, do not spurn this great love or the wrath of God abides upon you - "he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" - (Jn.3:36). Christ's death on the cross and HIs resurrection gives us life instead of death, if we get saved by Him.

†† A person is not saved by keeping God's laws - "We know that what things so ever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin" - (Rom.3:19,20). The law shuts our mouths; grace opens it and you praise the Lord Jesus. You cannot work your way into the kingdom of God by the deeds of the law. You have to give yourself up for lost, and take salvation as a free gift. Law tells me how crooked I am. Grace comes and makes me straight. I pity those who are always hanging around Mt. Sinai where the law was given, hoping to get eternal life there. "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth come by Jesus Christ" - (Jn.1:17). Good works cannot save you, only Christ on the cross, the grace of God, can save you.

†† Grace shows God's love to sinners - "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" - (Rom.5:8,9). When we're saved, we are justified in God's sight through the blood of His Son and saved from the wrath of God in hell. "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athrist come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" - (Rev.22:17). Grace is a stream of eternal life-giving water from the throne of God, and the pure water is free. "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life" - (Jn.4:14). Are you born again? Have you drunk from the flowing well of everlasting life in Christ? Are you thirsty for eternal life?

†† The water must be in you, inwardly, not water baptism outwardly, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit inwardly that washes your sins away and places you into the true church of Christ not made with hands. "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body..." - (I Cor.12:13). When you drink from God's well of the Holy Spirit, you are baptized and washed and cleansed form all your sins, and become a new creature in Christ, having your carnal nature changed to a spiritual, godly nature. "...he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost..." - (Mt.3:11). Yes, God's grace hung on the tree-cross.

†† The first law of God that He commanded was given to Adam in Eden - "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" - (Gen.2:16,17). The first law and the first punishment for breaking God's law, was death. The law became the tree of death. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" - (Rom.5:12). But praise the Lord Jesus who hung on the tree of death so we could have atonement for sins. O the marvelous, amazing grace of God that hung on the cross so we could be saved from the second death in the lake of fire and have eternal life - (Rev.20:14,15). And so the tree of death becomes a tree of life to all that are saved by Christ. Sin began on a tree in the garden of Eden with Adam, and sin was atoned for on a tree in the garden of Calvary. "Who his own self bare our sins in his body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness..." - (I Pet.2:24). Yes, Godís grace hung on the cross in the person of His dear Son.

†† God sent His dearly beloved Son down to earth to solve man's greatest problem, sin, and the punishment of sin which is death. That's what Christmas and Easter is all about. God's grace is His love and mercy in His dear Son, who came from glory to this sinful earth to be murdered and shed His innocent blood on Calvary's tree, so that we could be justified in God's sight, and conquer the grave and hell, and have eternal life.

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Greater than all my sin;

How shall my tongue describe it, where shall its praise begin?

Taking away my burden, setting my spirit free;

For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching to all the lost,

By it I have been pardened, Saved to the uttermost.

Chains have been torn asunder, Giving me liberty;

For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching the most defiled,

By its transforming power, Making him Godís dear child.

Purchasing peace and heaven, For all eternity;

And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Chorus

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, deeper than the mighty rolling sea;

Wonderful grace, all sufficient for me, even me. Broader than the scope

Of my transgressions, Greater far than all my sin and shame, O

Magnify the precious name of Jesus, Praise His name.

†† God's grace hung on the cross - amen. And so the last verse in the Bible reads Ė ďThe grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen" - (Rev.22:21). Thank God for this promise. His grace is with all His saints, during our youth and our old age; His grace is sufficient. By grace He saves us - through grace He keeps us. His grace never runs out - there is enough to last all the way through eternal life. Paul said - "I am what I am by the grace of God." If it were not for Christ's grace, we would all end up in the lake of fire with the Beast, the False Prophet, and the Devil. Man would be hopeless.

†† Have you received God's grace in His dear son? Are you saved and born again? Born again describes what happens to you when you're truly saved. You become a new creature in Christ, your old man passes away, all things are become new. If you're not born again, repent of your sins and believe in Christ in your heart by faith and you will receive forgiveness of sins and be saved from eternal death in hell, and become a new creature in Christ having eternal life. O do not spurn the grace of God in Christ or hell will be your home for eternity. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" - (Jn.3:16). Do not despise your birthright. Become a born again child of the Father and receive the blessing.
