“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people” – (Du.7:6-7).
“Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles” – (Mt.12:18).
“And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God” – (Luke ). “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious” – (I Pet.2:4).
The chosen people of God, the Jews of the Old Testament, were chosen of God to be a holy people and this holiness made them a special and peculiar people. And of these chosen people was born the chosen of God- The Lord Jesus Christ. The chosen people produced the chosen of God. Jesus Christ, the Holy one, the peculiar and very special one, the One who kept the holy commandments perfectly, the sinless One, Christ the chosen of God.
The chosen of God. What a beautiful title given to Jesus as He died on the tree cross in order to save us from our sins which began on the tree in Eden. He saved others – let him save himself. Praise the Lord Jesus stayed on the cross so that his precious blood could save many others. He refused to save himself physically, so that we could be saved spiritually. First he saves our soul, then the body. First a born again soul, then a born again body. Out of the millions of God’s chosen people, God gives the title of ‘Christ-The chosen of God’ to one man – the Lord Jesus – God’s beloved Son. He was chosen of God to be the savior of the world. Only the perfect, sinless, holy one of God can save others. Sinners can’t save anyone. Animals can’t save anyone. We need a human savior.
Jesus Christ, the chosen of God, has chosen us to be saved – we who are born again in Christ are now the chosen people of God, both Jew and Gentile. Christ in us, the chosen of God in us, makes us the chosen also. As it is written in (Eph.1:4) “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” And again in (2 Thes.2:13) “Because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.” We who are saved are the chosen and the elect of God, who believe the truth of God’s gospel when it’s preached. Both elect and freewill are taught in God’s word. Both are true. The whosoever wills are the elect and the whosoever won’ts are the non-elect. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” – (Rom.10:13). When you do this, then you are the elect – the chosen of God. Chosen to be saved and be his witnesses living holy lives in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. Jesus chose the first twelve disciples and he’s been choosing his disciples the last 2000 years also. We are chosen through the gospel by grace through faith.
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you” – (Jn.15:16). He has chosen us to be a peculiar people, a holy people separated from the world and not touching unclean sin. We care not about Kosher food but about living holy, Kosher lives. That’s why we’re peculiar. We’re holier than thou. We don’t live like the world – we don’t follow the world – we are worlds apart.
Nobody, Jew or Gentile, who does not receive Jesus Christ - The chosen of God - and get saved, is the chosen of God – the elect people of God. No unsaved Jew is the chosen of God the Father if he rejects God’s Son. It is salvation by Christ’s precious blood on the cross that makes you the chosen of God. No antichrist person is the chosen of God. “Who is a liar but he that denieth the Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also” – (I Jn.2:22-23). The elect and chosen people of God get saved. “He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God” – (Luke ).
It is prophesied of Christ in (Is. 42:1) “Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my spirit upon him:
he shall bring forth judgment to the gentles.” And again in (Mt.12:18) “Behold my servant whom I have chosen: my beloved, in whom my soul is
well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”
God is plainly telling us that His beloved Son is His Elect – his chosen and if
you try to go around the cross and reject his son, you’ll find out just how
un-chosen you are. When the vision of Moses and Elijah was seen talking with
the Lord Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, God the Father spoke from
heaven, “This is my beloved son, in whom
I am well pleased; hear ye him” – (Mt.17:5). And you had
better hear him or the
It is written in (I Pet 2:4,6) “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.” Jesus Christ is the precious living chosen cornerstone in God’s living temple – the Church. The obedient Jews and Gentiles who receive Christ and get saved are the chosen people of God. They received the precious cornerstone of God’s spiritual temple and became living stones of the temple also. They are the saved remnant, the elect, the chosen. But the disobedient who reject Christ stumble over that stone. The unsaved Jews of today are not the chosen people of God and have not been for the last 2000 years. (I Pet 2:9,10) says it all – “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people: that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God.”
Saved Christians are now the people of God, God’s chosen, God’s elect.
The true church is the holy nation now and a peculiar people. God has chosen us
unto salvation to live a Godly, holy life, separated from the world. The
disobedient stumble over the word of faith and reject Christ. I read about the
‘temple mount faithful’ Jews in
Jesus said in (Mt.22:16) “For many
are called but few are chosen.” And these chosen few, a remnant, are the elect
people of God – the true church. Many are invited to be saved, but only a few
will repent of sin and believe on Christ in their heart. Only a few are chosen
to salvation. The gospel calls many – “For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” –
(Rom.10:13). Yet only a chosen few call back and get saved. Only a few in number of the Old Testament Jews were called to be the
The chosen one, the Lord Jesus, is coming back as a conquering emperor
with his army of chosen saints – both Jew and Gentile – at Armageddon. “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the
lamb shall overcome them: for he is lord of Lords, and King of Kings: and they that
are with him are called , and chosen, and faithful”– (Rev.17:14). The chosen people of God,
the holy people, will reign with the chosen one. Holiness will be the motto of
the whole earth. It is at this second coming that a remnant of Jews in Israel will
be saved when they shall say – “Blessed
is he that cometh in the name of the Lord” – (Mt.23:39). “And so all
Are you one of the chosen people of God? Have you been saved by the chosen one, the Lord Jesus? Are you producing Holy fruit? Do people look upon you as peculiar because you don’t follow the world? Are you born again by the Holy Spirit? Are you a chosen stone in God’s spiritual temple – a holy stone? What a marvelous thing it is to be one of the chosen people of God – and what a great responsibility it is.
If you’re not saved, call upon the name of the Lord Jesus. Repent of your sins and believe on him in your heart. If you do this in truth, you will be a new creature in Christ – born again and chosen unto salvation. “But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of the truth” (2 Thes.2:13). Out of God’s chosen people the Jews, God chose a very special one to be the ‘chosen of God.’ The perfect, sinless one, a Jew according to the flesh – the savior of the world but also his own beloved son. He is the Father’s special chosen one – his elect, in whom he is well pleased. God’s chosen nation of people today are those chosen to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. They are the true saved Christians that make up his church. Amen and Amen.
