Bark Preacher Bark

“All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs, which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, everyone for his gain, from his quarter. Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day and much more abundant” – (Is.56:9-12). “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” – (I Pet.5:8).

There are some preachers that God has called to be watchmen over a whole nation but every pastor is to be a watchman over his flock. The shepherd and his dog work together to protect the sheep from the beast. God calls his preachers to be watchmen (watch dogs). The devil is coming in like a roaring lion and devouring the flock and God’s shepherds aren’t barking and warning them. God help us to have more bark in the pulpits. Oh preacher, be a watchman – lift up your voice like a trumpet and show your people their sins and warn them. “Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears” – (Acts 20:31).

The cowardly preacher who stands in the pulpit and won’t preach against all sins is a dumb dog who won’t bark. Bark preacher bark. Bark on sex sins, the # one sin in the U.S. that is destroying the sheep and the shepherds. Far too many preachers are committing this sin and so will not bark. People are fornicating like dogs today and preachers won’t bark. Their church members commit adultery and are ‘shacking up’ and committing sodomy and the shepherd is a barkless watch dog. Fornication spreads throughout the church like leaven and there is no church discipline.

Bark preacher bark. Bark on Santa – bark on the family – bark on Jezebel – bark on false religions – bark at false prophets – bark at everything wicked. You don’t need an eloquent bark or an educated bark. You don’t need a pedigree or a degree from a bible college. You don’t need voice training and being a great orator. You don’t need to be an entertainer with a flamboyant delivery. You just need to be an old cur dog with boldness to go after the beast. We don’t need more college in our pulpits, we need more courage. We need bold preachers and not cowards who are afraid to preach the truth.

Every once in a while these educated dogs get up and go- woof woof. Just enough to keep his paycheck coming in but not enough to offend anyone – then he goes back to having permanent laryngitis on sin preaching. Don’t be deceived by preachers that preach loud but don’t preach on sin, volume doesn’t mean truth. They’re barking up the wrong tree. Or when they do touch on sin they immediately tell a joke to take the sting away. Soon the antichrist – the beast – comes but the dumb preacher won’t preach on Revelation because it’s too scary and he hasn’t studied it.

One reason why the shepherd won’t bark is because he’s spiritually blind. Satan, the roaring lion, is destroying his flock and he’s too blind to see him. He has no inner enlightenment – no spiritual eyes. He’s spiritually blind. A blind watchdog is useless. Shepherds are in darkness today. If your pastor is blind and barkless, get out of that church. Jesus said – “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” – (Matt.15:14). How do you keep from following blind leaders – don’t be blind yourself. Study God’s word – receive the light – grow up – get into strong meat – feed yourself – have your eyes opened by the Holy Spirit.

Beware of blind watchdogs. They wear ‘dog collars’ – (clerical collars). They’re not God’s watchdogs, but wolves guarding the sheep – wolves in sheeps clothing – not saved - (Matt.7:15 and 2 Cor.11:13-15). Wolves are wild dogs. As it is written, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened” – (Eph.1:18). And again in (Luke 24:45) “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.” Watch your own sins preacher and when God shows you sins in your flock – bark and warn the flock. Take your blinders off and bark. Barking dogs save souls.

Another reason they won’t bark is because they’re ignorant and lazy. Our Lord tells us to feed the sheep and that doesn’t mean just hot dogs. You can’t preach what you don’t know. The scriptures says – “I would not have you to be ignorant.” The preacher is lazy and lies down on the job and doesn’t “Study to show himself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” – (2 Tim.2:15). They run to and fro busying themselves with the affairs of this life like building buildings – building empires for their egos. They forget that Paul, a wise master builder, didn’t build one single building. There is no excuse for a lazy, ignorant shepherd. “Lest Satan get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” – (2 Cor.2:11).

So many preachers are not vigilant- (To keep watch – keep awake). One qualification for a preacher is to be ‘vigilant’ – (I Tim.3:2). He needs to be a good watch dog by being vigilant so he can warn the flock. We need to be like the shepherds the night Jesus was born – “Shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night” – (Luke 2:8). Vigilant shepherds can discern the signs of the times. Watch preacher and bark.

Another qualification for a shepherd is not to be drunken – “Sober, not given to wine” – (I Tim.3:2-3). How many preachers take drugs and drink alcohol today? It takes away our sober minds and weakens our conscience to commit sin and makes us unfit to be a leader. Sober minded is an absolute requirement for God’s watchdogs. If he’s not sober who will watch the sheep and bark. “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise” – (Prov.20:1).

Oh, how many preachers are greedy dogs which never have enough? The love of money has shut their mouths. The roaring lion throws him a t-bone steak and the watchdog won’t bark. His paycheck and his free house and utilities and his Cadilac has shut his mouth. Money has ruined many a preacher. They quit preaching the truth but still draw their paycheck. Judge a preacher by not only what he preaches but by what he doesn’t preach. If he preaches only the positive things and not the negative he’s a money preacher and might end up on TV with a 100 million dollar a year ministry. Flee from him. “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things” – (I Tim.6:10-11).

This whole U.S. is greedy today. Fight against it in your own life preacher and bark against it. Evangelists won’t bark in churches because their offerings will dwindle and they will lose meetings. Missionaries won’t bark because they will lose support. Another qualification for a preacher is, “Not greedy of filthy lucre” – (I Tim.:3). Far too many preachers preach smooth money sermons and “The cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word and he becometh unfruitful.” He won’t bark because he’s a money preacher and keeps one eye on the offering each week.

Preachers can be greedy of other things besides money and things. Many are greedy of numbers – they want many people in church. They’re greedy of prestige. They won’t bark because it will chase people away. They might lose the fake – believers and the unsaved and children of the devil. Greedy preachers are bad watchdogs. They’re shepherds that “Look to their own way, for his own gain.” They won’t bark and warn the flock because it suits their purpose to be quiet. Preaching the truth will cost them so they take the easy silent way.

Bark preacher bark. Don’t be greedy – don’t be blind – don’t be ignorant – don’t fall asleep and be lazy. Be vigilant – be watchful. Warn your flock, especially in these end days. “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; (when they like it and when they don’t) reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” – (2 Tim.4:2-4).

Bark against all sin and false doctrine. Hold the King James bible in your hands and preach the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, as a faithful witness of the Lord Jesus Christ. And bark on Jesus constantly. Preach the saving gospel of the grace of God in Christ in every sermon. Jesus Christ should come out of your mouth continually. Preach the cross and the blood of Christ. Bark against sin and then ‘tree em’ like a dog barks and ‘trees’ the lion up a tree. There’s bark on the tree, so bark on the tree cross. You bark on sin so the sinner feels the guilt and the weight of his sins and then bark on the tree-cross. If we bark and preach like this we’ll not only tree the beast, we’ll tree a bunch of people and get them saved.

I see so much preaching on prophecy today and we need it. But so often there is absolutely never any gospel preached. They bark only on prophecy and not on sin and no saving gospel of Jesus Christ to get people saved. There is no reason to neglect the most important part. We can preach prophecy and the whole counsel of God and preach salvation also so we can feed the flock and birth new sheep into the flock – Ye must be born again – ye must be saved.

All the while we preach and bark and warn the flock like a good shepherd and his faithful sheep dog, we need to keep our hearts filled with the chief shepherd - the Lord Jesus - “That great shepherd of the sheep” – (Heb.13:20). The great shepherd who gave his life for his sheep by barking the truth. It takes a bold dog to face up to a mountain lion and bark and chase him till he’s treed. It’s a lot easier to bark and chase rabbits. Preachers need to watch their own sins because – “The righteous are bold as a lion.” – (Prov.28:1). He needs to keep himself filled with the Holy Ghost also so he can be a bold preacher. “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the Word of God with boldness” – (Acts 4:31).

A shepherd feeds the flock and he also barks like a sheep dog and warns of approaching danger. He’s not a sleep dog but a sheep dog. We are living in the end days and God’s word tells us that there will come a falling away and apostasy just before the beast comes. “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there came a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition” – (2 Thes.2:3). Bark preacher bark. Don’t be a part of this apostasy. Warn about the beast.

Far too many preachers have become movie stars like the collie sheep dog ‘Lassie.’ Instead of being a watch dog, they’re entertainers, singing and playing instruments and acting out their sermons. They deceive themselves into thinking that it’s how you preach not what you preach. So they jump up and down and run around the church entertaining the flock and putting on a show and being a show-off. They’re full of razzle-dazzle and show-biz and even encourage ‘cheerleaders’ from the congregation to assist them. These ‘lassies’ don’t warn the flock – they entertain the flock.

If you’re not born again, repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart and you shall be saved. But it must be done in truth with a humble and contrite heart. Only Jesus Christ can wash your sins away and give you immortality and eternal life. “He only has immortality” – (I Tim.6:16). Make sure your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life so you won’t be cast into the lake of fire which is the second death. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” – (Rev.20:15). Don’t go to hell – be saved today. Bark preacher bark. Amen and Amen.
