From Arms to Farms

"But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: For the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it" - (Micah 4:1-4).

After the war for Armageddon, when H-bombs burn up the world at the end of the Great Tribulation and most of mankind dies, the Lord Jesus returns to earth to set up His millennium of peace on the earth - "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened" - (Mt.24:21,22). But then no longer will nations lift up sword against nation, but all weapons of war will be destroyed, and will be made into the implements of peaceful agricultural tools for use on the farm. This whole world will go from arms to farms. In contentment and comfort and peace "shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and none shall make them afraid."

King Jesus returns from heaven with His army of saints and defeats the Antichrist-Beast at Armageddon in Israel and saves the remnant of Jews, and then becomes the Prince of Peace over a world of peace and no more war. King Jesus rules the world in righteousness and holiness and justice and all the saints will rule and reign with Him.

Beating swords into plowshares and spears into pruninghooks, and sitting under vines and fig trees shows a pastoral scene of peaceful agriculture and farming and not war. It speaks of ploughboys and not soldier boys. It speaks of small towns and safety and not crowded evil cities. It speaks of godly, peaceful farms, and not wicked cities living in fear. It speaks of Christian farm towns worldwide worshipping the Lord Jesus worldwide.

Today is August 6, 2010, the 65th anniversary of America's A-bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. The whole city burned and people's flesh melted on their bodies in seconds. And now we have H-bombs, a thousand times more powerful that can reach the whole world with intercontinental ballistic missiles. And soon Armageddon will be unleashed by men with wicked hearts of sin that began by eating of the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden. It will be the end of the world from scientists eating from the tree of knowledge with wicked hearts.

Yesterday, my wife received a phone call from her uncle in Michigan who would be coming here to Tucson to celebrate his 64th anniversary of his bomber group who fought together in WWII. And I thought about the B-29 bomber that dropped the first A-bomb on Hiroshima. Her uncle was raised on a farm and went from the farm to arms and served in combat and then returned home to the farm. He went from arms to farms - amen.

I read about the national group called 'Farms not Arms’ here in the U.S. that has been spearheading efforts to bring soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan back to the farms and recover from the ravages of war. They use the prophet Micah's words as their motto - "they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks." A scientist who worked on the first H-bomb, and learned of its power, went out and bought a farm in New Hampshire for a haven.

When Jesus returns to earth He uses farm words to describe it - He reaps the earth of human fruit that He first planted with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He will gather up His saved wheat, and burn up the unsaved chaff - "He will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire" - (Mt.3:12).  He will soon harvest His human crop on planet earth after His preachers have finished preaching the gospel seed of salvation in Christ - "The sower soweth the word" - (Mt.4:14). Again - "And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirty fold, some sixty, and some a hundred" - (Mt.4:20). All born again true believers are born again by the incorruptible seed of the Word of God – “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever" - (I Pet.1:23). Born again describes what happens to you when you're truly saved - you receive a new divine nature of the Holy Spirit inside. Only the O.T. saints and the N.T. saints who believed the gospel seed will inherit their millennial farms for eternity.

God created man and planted him in the Garden of Eden (not a city), and now after 6000 years, Christ will soon return as the Lord of the harvest reaping His human fruit. He died to save and make evil human fruit into godly fruit. God will have a harvest of the fruit of the womb that started with Adam and Eve. And all the saved, born again godly fruit will inherit their farms during the millennium when Christ returns: the Lord Jesus Christ, the fruit of the womb of the virgin Mary, and God's beloved Son, has redeemed and shed His precious blood on the tree of Calvary in the Easter garden so we could become new creatures producing holy fruit. Sin started on a tree in the Garden of Eden, and sin was atoned for by Christ on the tree of Calvary in the garden. The saved, human fruit of God, and the ancestors of Adam and Eve, will return back to the pastoral scene of gardens on their millennial farms when Christ returns and there won't be any weapons.

We will not have weapons to kill people or any of God's creatures, and the wild animals and birds of prey will have their natures changed like ours and we shall live together in peace with all of Gods' creatures - "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp..." - (Is.11:6-8). What a wonderful future we saints shall have during the millennium when the killing stops, and man is the greatest predator of all.

Zechariah also prophesied of the peaceful millennium - "In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree" - (Zech.3:10). We shall love our neighbor as ourselves. The 40 year reign of King Solomon, whose name means 'peace' and who was not a man of war, is a type of the peaceful millennium of King Jesus. "And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon" - (I Kin.4:25).

Agriculture is the science, art, and business of cultivating the soil, producing crops, and raising livestock, also called farming. Israel's society remained basically agricultural throughout their history. The Bible says that the most basic task of Adam in Eden was - "to dress it and to keep it" - (Gen.2:15). But after he and Eve sinned, God cast them out of Eden and cursed the ground and so Adam had to sweat hard on the farm. But in the millennium, God will lift the curse and make farming easy and a blessing again like Eden was. The close relationship between people and soil is seen by God creating man out of the earth, and being buried in the earth, and resurrecting unto eternal life if we're saved by Christ. So humans are seen as having divinely-given abilities to be gardeners and farmers.

Jesus made frequent reference to the land and its fruits in His teaching, and Paul also did. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" - (Gal.6:7,8). Again - "I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry..." - (I Cor.3:6-9). God's husbandry is His human crop as we see God mentioned as a farmer again - "I am the true vine and my Father is the husbandman" - (Jn.15:1). God and His Son are the Lords of the harvest of their human crop.

With the seasons as a background to the daily life, Israel's religious calendar was based on their agricultural year. The feast of Passover was celebrated at the beginning of the barley harvest. This was followed 50 days later by the feast of Pentecost with the offering of the firstfruits of the wheat harvest. The feast of tabernacles or ingathering, took place when the harvest was complete. With all of these harvests, God was showing us His human harvest as well, because that is His most important crop on planet earth.

Are you a wheat or are you a chaff? Are you saved or are you lost? Are you a godly tree producing good fruit being born again of the Holy Spirit? One day you will planted in the ground at death. Do you have the seed of the Holy Spirit in you that will germinate and resurrect you to eternal life? Are you born again in Christ? If not, repent of your sins and believe in Christ in your heart by faith, and you will receive forgiveness of sins, and be saved from hell and become a new born again creature in Christ having eternal life. Jesus said - "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" - (Jn.3:6,7). O do not spurn the love and grace of God in His beloved Son on the cross, or the wrath of God abideth upon you. "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him" - (I Jn.4:9).

Be saved - be ready for Christ's second coming and your millennium farm.
